I just bought the R6II over the R5II. With the new battery issue, less battery life and expensive price it was a new brainer. The R6II is incredible coming from an R5. Now I am selling the R5.

I agree that the r6 II is better than the r5. You also get unlimited record time. You are also right. You will get longer battery life with r6ii over r5ii. I more than likely will buy a r6 iii when it comes out because I love the r6 line.

Holy crap! You sold one of your children... I have the R7, R6 MII, and R5 MII also. I was thinking of selling the R7, because the AF isn't that great when trying to shoot fast-moving subjects, but you have made me think now. The R7 is great at video... I do want the 24-70 lens 🤔

Take your time and don’t let me sway you. For me the R7 isn’t immune either down the line. The video of the r6ii is really good, but I figured the price will drop quite a bit once they announce a r6iii and a second r5ii would be nice. Since you got the r5ii how often have you used the r6 II.

Your R7's days are definitely numbered. I use R7 for telephoto and R8 for everything else but always wish I had R8 autofocus in the R7. The R5II would put my R7 on the shelf for all occasions. If I needed a studio cam it would probably be the R8. Imagine if the R5/R6/R7 lines were all the same camera except 45/24/APSC options. One thing about video crop mode (in the R8 at least, probably the R5II as well): it doesn't work in 120 fps! And that's exactly when you need it (small birds).

Great intro Jared! Had me cracking up.... I have the R6Mk1 and Mk2. I'm seriously considering the R5Mk2 as a high megapixel option and selling the original R6. Candidly, both R6es have been fabulous and I really couldn't want for more. I think I'd prefer an R3Mk2 but don't know if I'll wait that long. And then there's the Hasselblad X2D. I would dedicate it to studio work and use the R6Mk2 for field/run & gun work. I feel you on paying cash for cameras. A basic 'Blad setup $$$$$ could represent a serious departure from that philosophy. But damn...... 🤔😀😉

We are not lacking options like we did 10yrs ago. So many options in cameras now days. I was visiting a friend at his studio today and he has been shooting with the fx6 since it was launched and that is a faithful camera too in the Sony echo system.

Makes sense for what you do. I held on to my R6II Even tho really enjoy the R5ii very much. The plan is to trade it in for the R1 next month, tho. Sports photographer here so speed is key with smaller files. I love the R6II still. It comes with me on every shoot. 🥰

Well I do shoot Sony and Canon (own several Sony full frame bodies and just one EOS R5) but only shoot stills. Was looking to upgrade to an EOS R5 Mark II but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Canceled my pre-order and seeing now that they are coming available again. Quicker than I thought. If you don’t shoot video what features pushed you toward the Mark II body. I’ve been thinking about pre-capture since there are so few wider angle primes for Canon L than Sony. On Sony I can support 14mm, 20mm, 24mm, and 35mm. On Canon I have IS holy trinity and 100/2.8 L IS and 135/1.8 L IS and of course the 50/1.2 L and 85/1.2 L. Thank you and take care.

You got the best lenses for both sony and Canon. Nice! The eye retna autofocus through the viewfinder is a huge benefit for the R5 II upgrade. Where ever I look it focuses on that object so I no longer need to use the joystick. Pre-capture is nice for action and having all the video abilities is nice.

Right now is the most you will get for the R6 II. Once the R6 III is announced in a couple months the price will drop a lot and I figure I'll probably just pick up the R6 III on release since it will be a smaller megapixel version of the R5 II also featuring a stacked sensor and clog 2 along with waveform monitoring. I don't know how much longer I'll keep my R7 as well. I have had it since launch over two years ago.

Make sense though😅, I have the same feeling about my R6. I don't really reach for it unless I'm doing a wedding with 2 cameras. Even then I reach for the R8 and R6 stays in my bag as a third option. I hit the plateau with the R6 that really surprised me. I'm also waiting to see what the R6 III will be like before upgrading the R6
