I can't believe the only choices are still a signed long int or some form of floating decimal representation that you have to translate with readable logic because exponential format is annoying as hell to look at. At least if all you're wanting is to look at a big number for the sake of convenience in the first place. They probably aren't the only choices for a lot of modern languages, but this is a free "cookie clicker clone" so effort past the basics is probably not something they'd want to spend.
@failurenotsorry66005 ай бұрын
@@CodeguruX Guy, you probably responded to the wrong comment. The dev explained why they coded it the way they did in this comment section. Don't be rude over the effort put into the game, even simple games like this are difficult to make.

His only expense was cups, which he used to sell hot water at a lemonade stand. Even thought the customers complained it was disgusting, they still bought it. That was how we learned the key to business is selling a large quantity of cheap inferior products.

too be fair the dev probanly didnt concider autoclickers, seeing as you can actually beat this relativ fast and nothing you can buy at any stage comes even remotly close to the overflow limit in cost, that only happened because rce went and instead of playing it normally, used an autoclicker to get rediculles amounts of production while ignoring the Upgrades so he can stretch the gameplay out again after his autoclicking shortened it way too much, thus further amplifying the problem. During a normal playthrough, you'd ndver run into that problem.
@jonaut57055 ай бұрын
seriously, it's so easy, and nobody will ever hit it, for a signed integer it's 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 and for unsigned it's 18,446,744,073,709,551,615, nobody will ever hit that and you only have to type one more character

the fermi paradox has always seemed odd to me. as a species we have only been capable of sending signals or making it obvious we are here, since around the industrial revolution. that's less than 150 years. so, we are only 'visible' currently, to aliens within that number of light years. even radio waves are constrained by C so if we're looking at stars and systems that are tens to hundreds of thousands of light years away, we are seeing what was happening tens to hundreds of thousands of years ago, and vice versa... so unless we're jumping on the ancient aliens train, we have very little chance of seeing contemporary alien races, at least until both they and we have been announcing our location to the cosmos for millenia.
@5Davideo5 ай бұрын
Well the idea is that *other* civilizations should've developed and persisted over the last several billion years or so in the nearest hundred billion stars or so, and *they* should be broadcasting in a way that we could detect with current technology... but all we've heard is silence. This implies that either: A) Despite the incredible amount of time and worlds available to develop a sufficiently-advanced civilization, it is actually fantastically rare for all of the prerequisites for such a civilization to form to actually occur. Perhaps we're even the first to reach this stage. OR B) Civilizations do reach this stage, but they tend to be so incredibly short lived - say, a few centuries, at most - that the number that can be detected at any one time is very low. Generally this is assumed to be a form of self-extinction - total nuclear war, say, or short-sighted policies that lead to the destruction of the very environment they need to live, as in this game - but could be something else, such as a rabidly-xenophobic spaceborne society that destroys any other as soon as they become detectable. The most important part of this discussion is not whether they'll be able to notice us - as you've mentioned, only a few hundred light-year diameter bubble of stars, at most - but *we* should be able to detect *them*, even with signals emitted when we were still in the Stone Age and only just now reaching us, and yet we aren't.
@davidaward825 ай бұрын
@@5Davideo we have no reason to believe that the circumstances required for sustainable intelligent life is not, galactically speaking, a contemporary era phenomenon. if that's the case, then maybe a few million years, but more likely, within thousands of us. honestly, the idea that advanced civilisations that we would even recognise as such existed in the billions of years ago+ range is so unlikely as to be almost certainly relegated to the realms of fiction.
