I was chatting with my buddy, Shawn Camp at a bar in Leipers Fork, Tennessee. He looked over and saw a guy walk in and said, Otis, you need to meet this cat. He's the guy who sold Waylon his telecaster. I probably said something like, yes, I guess I do need to meet that cat. That's when Shawn introduced me to Bill. I chatted with Bill for a while at the bar and he had great stories about playing with JJ Cale, Leon Russell and a bunch of other cool folks. I asked him that night if he'd share some of those stories with my viewers and he said yes, but it took a few months to finally make it happen. Bill's a really fun cat and a good hang. I hope y'all enjoy this as much as I did. I'll publish more from this interview in the near future. Thanks to Shawn for introducing me to Bill! Please say thanks to Bill for sharing these stories! ❤

I sold Waylon a TV Front Tweed Fender Pro Amp in Springfield, Mo for $250.00 in I believe 1973, Our drummer had left and we were hard up for money. He got emotional and told me that it was just like the ones that he and Buddy were using when Buddy was killed. A great old amp. Waylon was a true gentleman and I played his guirat through that amp so that he could go out front and hear it. Cool huh?

My daddy was a truck driver and slept all day and drove all night. He was a Teamster so in the 60s and early 70s it was a great job. Few days before my 15th birthday he had me go to W. C. Grant department store. Surprised he knew me better than I knew myself because he goes over to the album aisle, then hands me a Waylon album, says "hear, you'll like this". Yep, he had me figured.

Great Waylon guitar story told by old Bill Kenner from Houston, Tx. Had the pleasure of partying with him & hearing some classic Jimmie Buffet tales.

I'm a musician of 44 years down in Louisiana and I have a million storys but not any quit as peculiar as this one except for the day I found Hank Williams grave in Montgomery and the guy buried next to him and his wife had the same name as me..... lol Did shows with Lonnie Mack, BB King, Bob Wier, etc..... 1 night I called my best friend in Los Angeles and was ranting about Waylons Red White and Blue TELE and how gaudy it looked. He says, "Andy I'm looking at that guitar right now, the lady I used to rent from on Old Topanga Canyon Road gave it to me" I think she was friends with Jesse and Waylon. I was shocked nonetheless. Well, as things go in LA, it was stolen not long after that by, he thinks, some movers who had recently helped him into his new house. Anyway, thought I'd share this.

these interviews are priceless, thank you so much. The quality of your content is phenomenal. I also really appreciate the constant positiveness here. Music brought us here together, what an amazing thing, there is so much negativity in this world and on the internet, here's a breath of fresh air. Music is so powerful and can do unbelievable things, Otis knows that and he is genuinely sharing all that magic to us. So many thank you. I know so well musicians are often vulnerable and can easily fall into traps that are hard to overcome.A message of love, hope, humbleness and respect like we get out of this channel is very needed and appreciated.I know this saves people. Can't thank enough

I live 3 miles from the old Texas World Speedway in College Station (Bryan). What i would give to have been there in '74! I was born about 10 years too late for my musical tastes. I learned of all the great ones from my brother who was at A&M at the time. By the way most of the track is now gone to make way for a new subdivision. I guess "progress" never stops. I love your content. I love to hear the stories of how the music was inspired and created. Thanks!
