95% of my 1700 hour Siege journey has been Solo queue. Generally the experience has been quite good and positive. People complaining about toxicity are most likely being a little toxic themselves, resulting in way more escalations.

This whole video gave me such a better outlook on competitive games in general. But I've gotta say, being a woman especially on Siege and being on NA servers makes it an entirely different game than what you experienced. I personally label Siege as the most toxic competitive game I've played and that's being compared to many games including League of Legends as well. The sexism, TK'ing, Racism and much more is basically a coin flip if not worse odds. But either way an amazing video Teo, and I wish I was on EU servers xD
@UnkindledBonfire5 ай бұрын
Think a lot of the toxic R6 stereotype comes from NA servers, all these guys seemed lovely in comparison to people in america. Performance has a big impact as well, play bad and people are more toxic to you. Being the professional gamer that you are with your superior corsair technology you obviously didnt have that issue
@Tacticaviator75 ай бұрын

As someone who usually plays ranked I can agree that I see a lot more toxicity when you reach higher ranks, but I will also say that most of the time the “toxicity” is kinda just feedback that is blown way outta proportion and to some people with an ego whether low or higher rank tend to view that as toxicity and they’re toxic right back. Highest I’ve ever been is gold but I’ve played with some diamonds and champs and when you’re of a certain status some people get that ego that won’t let them work with other people that aren’t on their level. It’s sad to see some people get like how they did with you, but it was refreshing to see that the majority of people you came across weren’t like that.

Hi Teo, I'm glad you've been having a good and positive time in Siege. I will say that I can concur, there is (or was) a lot of toxicity in Siege. I've been playing for the last 9 years now, and I've encountered a lot of toxic players. The game isn't over run with them, but it used to be pretty bad. (At least from my experience) I haven't met a lot of them now though, and I think that's because of the reputation system. It's still pretty new, but I think It has been doing ok. When a player gets enough reports for toxicity, they can no longer use chat until they change their behavior. And I'm sure as you've seen in the reputation tab, it explains that privileges are revoked if you are toxic. I'm really glad you and the others play Siege more often! I still have fun with the game despite all of its many flaws. Have fun! Much love from the US!

@beepboop28035 ай бұрын
The destiny community is just straight up an anomaly. Idk how else to word it. One day everyone is loving and enjoying new content. then the next day a bungie dev tweets out bad news, and now other devs are getting death threats and random pizzas (not a good thing. a stranger knows where they live, and could make a false report and get that dev killed by the cops.) Bungie is a very seemingly left leaning company, but I have never played a game that had more extreme right leaning players. Idk if that’s because I play in na though, or if I just don’t play enough fps games.

As a solo queue myself, 8/10 matches are just people playing the game. 1/10 are people that actually are kind and have fun complimenting each other and even the other team(I've been doing my own experiment to be the most wholesome Siege player, so I even compliment the enemy on good kills and rounds), the other 1/10 though... they are SO bad, so toxic, so unhinged, that they stick with you way way longer and have more of an impact on your mental than the other games. This is why the game has the reputation I believe. The extreme some people go to being full tilt toxic is so much worse it's all you can think about, even if it's only 1 match out of the however many hours you played. That's why I want to be overly positive and give people a good experience, I want them to leave the match feeling better. Great breakdown and experiment though! I agree Siege is not as bad as its reputation, just the one time oyu have a bad game, it can be really bad...

It's really cool to see you hop back on Siege, especially since a couple of creators in the community have recently referenced stuff from your old Siege videos. It still surprises me how much of an impact those early videos had on the Siege community, and how much of a legacy you apparently have within the game's culture despite the fact that you rarely engage with it or its community anymore (which is fair). Also shoutout to your theory at the end of the video for essentially just being the negativity bias. Insightful commentary as always Teo lol

You're hitting the nail on the head with the last comments. People tend to remember the highs and lows, with lows usually overshadowing the highs. Especially if they end on a low after losing their energy to keep going because of said low. Another thing I think people usually don't take into consideration is the way they respond to toxicity. If you immediately respond negatively, you're feeding into it and it usually starts a downwards spiral. Sure, you might not be throwing the first punch, but you're still escalating instead of defusing or not engaging. That's generally going to increase how much toxicity you experience.
