I Solved FNAF's BIGGEST Mystery

In today's video I discuss one of FNAF's biggest unsolved mysteries... Midnight Motorist from Pizzeria Simulator. This is probably one of the most wild theories I've ever posted. FNAF has been in my life for so long, so it was really cool looking back and theorizing about past games. I hope you enjoy the video :)

We barely know why William Afton kills, He just looks insane, manic and the pure evil. All we know is that he's evil and he killed children, and that his family was a real pain in the ass. So this man, as horrible as the theory sounds, might be right. And when you stop and think about it, it's really scary, because we can't be sure of anything hahahahahahahaha

I was right on board until you said he had died twice. I think a lot of it adds up and is a pretty reasonable theory, I enjoy the effort put into it. I don't agree that Crying Child has died twice, however, I would propose an alternative: What if he was just straight up captured? We know that when a kid gets captured by a Funtime animatronic they aren't killed, at least not right away. One of the novel stories, the one about the goth chick who likes Edgar Allen Poe stories, gets captured in a Funtime Freddy, but she is alive in his stomach hatch for a period of time. So what if the same thing happened to Crying Child? And when Afton went to fetch his quarry from him, he discovered his son inside. He would have been released, but would also have been heavily disciplined and would explain why he's forced to be around Fazbear's Pizza while still being terrified. If he acts out or says anything about what happened to him, he'd get his own Dad in trouble. I think that makes a bit more narrative sense and still supports this theory without necessarily implying Crying Child was "killed" two times.

I've got 1 problem with this theory; If we assume that the Crying Child was killed by Funtime Freddy, then rebuilt and then killed again by Fredbear, there is a problem. Why would William Aftom create the Funtime animatronics so early in the timeline? He had no motive since they were made to capture children. William must have created Funtime Freddy after the bite of 83 and after the murder of Charlie and both of these events happen after the midnight motorist minigame events. So to my knowledge Funtime Freddy couldn't have killed the Crying Child because he didn't exist yet.

Three big problems that completely debunk this. 1: The Runaway kid in Midnight Motorist makes footprints that curve AWAY from the footprints of the animatronic. He was not lured anywhere by anyone or anything. 2: You can't witness your own death. The Fredbear Plush specifically says "Don't you remember what you SAW." Establishing that BV's trauma specifically stems from something he SAW. 3: SL was not planned to exist when Fnaf 4 was made. So BV's trauma cannot be explained using something that was only established in SL.

A lot of times in fiction people dying are able to see their bodies lying there lifeless, and in some cases in real life too. But this does make it shaky. 3: SL was made to tie up loose ends with FNAF 4. I believe that Scott wanted to explain it better so he made Midnight Motorist as a way to explain it.

Okay but at no point do we saw that the crying child dies in midnight motorist. All we know for sure is that he ran away from home? The only confirmed death that night is Charlie. It’s an interesting theory but there’s no proof of them dying the same night. It’s just as possible that the crying child was merely captured that night and later released by Afton. Remember that in one of the stories of into the pit there’s a similar case scenario where a teenager girl spend hours trap in in Funtime Fredbear before she was killed. It’s not necessarily an instant kill scoop like for Elisabeth.

The biggest thing that makes me doubt this, is the wording that the Freddy plush uses when telling the crying child not to go near the stage. "Remember what you saw" not "Remember what happened to you" or "Remember what he did to you". The wording heavily implies that he saw someone else get killed or something by either Fredbear or Spring Bonnie.

And if you take this a step further, you could even say that the crying child's body is what's in the locked box from the end of FNAF 4. It'd definitely explain why Scott decided to keep the box sealed.

In my opinion, if we go along with the FT freddy lured out cc theory in the video, I don’t think it killed cc because he may have ran away after it tried to catch him or something alike. FT Freddy doesn’t have a claw like Baby, so it’d have to grab cc and store him into its stomach, maybe after it tried to catch him he escaped. That’s why he’s scared of the animatronics, because one tried to capture him.

…John. Why the _hell_ would William build the Funtimes before the Crying Child’s death, and especially before Charlie’s death? The Funtimes were very clearly made as a reaction to almost getting caught for the MCI, hence why the animatronics are used to capture and kill children for Afton rather than him doing it himself. And we know that the MCI happened in 1985, and CC clearly died in 1983, and whether you think that Charlie died before or after the Crying Child, she died before the MCI. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE FUNTIMES TO EXIST DURING MIDNIGHT MOTORIST. And sure, you pointed out that there were springlock suits at Baby’s restaurant, but the springlock suits didn’t get discontinued at Fredbear’s, they got discontinued at Freddy’s. We know this because the FNaF 3 tapes about the springlocks are for Freddy’s, not Fredbear’s. So it’s very possible for Baby’s restaurant to have been opened after the MCI while still having springlock suits, as we know that Freddy’s was a franchise, meaning that the MCI shutting down one Freddy’s doesn’t necessarily shut down all of them. And you mentioned William not having a motivation to build the Funtimes and chalked it up to “maybe he’s just a killer for the sake of killing.” But we know this can’t be true because of the recent interview with Steel Wool, where it was flat out stated that Steel Wool is trying to give Afton an actual motivation to start killing. We can’t just say that anymore. He has a reason. You said that this theory was too sci-fi. I disagree. This theory was just an example of getting to sucked into one idea without checking for flaws.

I think theres a relatively simple answer to Midnight motorist that everyone ignores because of the purple car red herring. Midnight motorist isn't about afton, or henry, it's about Cassidy. Midnight motorist is about Cassidys father coming home to find him missing after he was killed by Afton. Let me explain my thought process here: We're introduced to a family associated with a golden color, a family with an alcoholic father with a pretty dysfunctional and potentially even abusive relationship with his children, leading to an angry and troubled problem child, a child who breaks all the rules, a child who also loves the Fazbear franchise. We know from the Toy Chica UCN cutscenes, William didn't kill all of his victims on the Fazbear premises, he specifically Followed one of them home and lured them from there. This explains what the footprints outside the window are, they're from William wearing a springbonnie suit. The amount of toes even match the springbonnie feet that both Scraptrap and Burntrap have, so we know that 3 toes was the standard for Springbonnie. But you may be asking yourself, what's the mysterious mound in the woods? It's where william buried Cassidy, it's his grave. Its an important little detail that nobody ever seems to bring up, but Cassidy is NEVER stuffed into a suit by the puppet. The actual Golden Freddy suit ever appear physically in any of the games, and judging by the fact that a Fredbear suit wasn't on display at Fazbear Frights, it probably wasn't just sitting in a backroom off camera in the first 2 games either, as it most definitely would have been found by them. This is why Cassidy is never released nomatter what happens, no fires can set his soul to rest because hes not possessing anything, hes just an actual Ghost. Golden freddy isn't a possessed costume, Golden freddy is a legitimate poltergeist, the spirit of an angry, rage filled child lashing out at the world. A malignant parasite latched onto the franchise and his Killer. This is backed up further by looking at parallels in the other two parallel universes of Fnaf, The Silver eyes and Frights universes. In the Silver eyes timeline, golden freddy is never an actual costume when he appears, and when the police would later search the building, they never find the golden suit, it was never physically involved in any of the paranormal activities. In the Frightsverse, Andrew haunts William and latches onto him to eternally torment him. Andrew wasn't stuffed into a suit, he only joins the stitchwraith later once it starts collecting pieces infected by Afton (which is likely how Afton himself also joined the stitchwraith, he hitched a ride with andrew) The story with afton in the hospital is also supporting of the Poltergeist Cassidy theory, as the whole story is pretty obviously a homage to Films like the Exorcist and Paranormal Activity. Everything about Midnight motorist makes sense if we look at it from this angle, with every other angle (William Motorist and Henery Motorist) either has to ignore details or utilizes ideas which don't concretely exist within in games timeline (Sound/Illusion discs) The purple car is obviously ment to be red herring, because you expect purple guy to get out of the car, but instead a yellow man gets out. Scott knew we didn't understand the Midnight motorist minigame and attempted to make it clearer in UCN with the chica cutscenes, but again, nobody was willing to entertain the idea that the purple car wasn't important. Some may ask, if Cassidy wasn't killed at a Fazbears establishment, why are there always stated to be 5 missing kids? Because there were 5 missing kids at a fazbears establishment, the 5th kid isn't Cassidy, its Charlie.

8:08 I think the hearthbeat is just a mechanic to let you know when you should shock the animatronic. Each robot has its own sound cue for example Molten Freddy has like scraping and clicking sounds that play when he's about to jumpscare you. Okay. This overall does a lot of good things. The Funtime Freddy voicelines were a bit of shaky evidence because those could just be stock audio programmed into Funtime Freddy as a performer. Uh, FuhNaff, illusion disks don't change the physical properties of an animatronic. Its an ILLUSION. If Funtime Freddy really used a disk to look like Fredbear, it would look like he had 3 toes, however that doesn't mean the physical robot underneath the illusion ACTUALLY changes to having only 3 toes.

Just a question but have we ever considered midnight motorist is about Henry? It would explain why the character was going to a bar (if later that night means it takes place after his daughter just got killed), why they're orange not purple, and that William could've been the one waiting outside the window in his suit. We assume it's William because he seems like a bad father and that we've never been told Henry had a son but Henry could have a son we haven't met or it could even a character we just haven't theorised to be his son. Also Henry does the right thing in PS but that doesn't mean he wasn't a bad father, or he could simply have been angry because he was drunk and his child just died at a Freddy's location. I always thought that the “Immortal and the Restless” was a direct parallel to the story of Micheal and William. With William being the “immortal” - no matter how many times you try and burn him he “always comes back”, he’s unkillable. And Micheal being the “restless” - constantly moving from job to job endlessly tracking his father, literally working the night shift, and not being able to rest until he sets everyone free in Pizza Sim (choosing to stay instead of taking the escape route planned). The phrasing of “immortal” and “restless” also works to parallel their desires, with William outright seeking immortality whereas it seems forced upon Micheal (and his motive throughout the series seems to be to lay everyone else to rest). This contrast can clearly be seen in Henry’s monologue, between the demand for William to “give up [his] spirits” and Micheal’s choice to stay and burn with them “you are right where you want to be”. Idk man, I always interpreted the mound in the dirt as the grave of Susie's dog/mangle and the beginning of Afton's experiments with remnant, and then when Crying Child kept sneaking away to the diner, Afton used the nightmare animatronics to scare him and keep him away/safe, and the thing he saw was Elizabeth's death to baby which explains the stomach thing and was also why Afton wanted to keep him away

Love this idea. The only counter I have is the toes. If Funtime Freddy uses his illusion disk, wouldn't the footprint be the Funtime's toes, which is 4? I could see the argument being made that Scott put the 3-toed footprint and the pile of dirt near so that we as the gamer could use the clues to connect the dots between Funtime using an illusion disk to lure Crying Child. Maybe the argument could be made this theory works with a Twisted ones animatronic, and it's an unseen design? I also love the cruel poetic justice of both Charlie and Crying Child being killed in the same night, definition of tragedy. Seriously, love this theory.

I do think the dream theory was correct at the time. Aka all the games were dreamt up by the crying child, because there was too much evidence pointing at that, and Scotts clues were also heavily suggesting that, like Toy Chica's beak and "What happens in the shadows is easily misunderstood in the mind of a child". I do think however that he did decide he didn't want to end it off being a dream, so he did make Sister Location to sort of put that plot to rest.

In another comment, I was watching someone else's video and the issue with crying child and charlie and was already thinking about how crying child cried twice. That explains SO much! I think that reaally ties things in. This is quite amazing!! I think that you're bringing us closer! In a world of remnant, fazgoo, and illusion disks, why wouldn't the crying child dying twice be a thing? I mean it's such a normal horror trope to have the killer kill a victim, bring them back to life to be their 'friend', and they slowly regain the memory of their previous life. Apply known horror tropes to FNAF and we might end up discovering WAAAAY more things that Scott (on his like 7th FNAF game) was scraping the barrel for.

One issue with the bite of '83 being against a robot is that Crying Child seems to go to a hospital after being bitten (evidenced by the heart monitor and IV bag), unless the robot is indistinguishable to a human even with advanced hospital equipment, the hospital would realize that he's a robot and wouldn't admit him or be able to treat him

I'll be honest that I'm not always convinced by all of the conclusions, but what I love is that you always find the craziest little details that everyone else has overlooked. I see a lot of that here. I don't know if I really think Funtime Freddy kidnapped the crying child in Midnight Motorist, but you're right that there are some really, really weird coincidences and parallels to Baby who we KNOW did this to Elizabeth. Either way, I've been saying the mound in Midnight Motorist establishes the funtimes as existing in 1983 (Charlie's death per the novels which should match for the games) for awhile now, so always happy to see more people on board (and it was nice that Matpat solved the biggest problem with that in his last theory :D)

I love this! The theorist part of Fandom has always sorta had some of these puzzle pieces but we were always trying to use it to build a bigger puzzle. For your theory to make sense there would be a reverse of what we see in the mini-game. One set of child's footprints and multiple animatronic footprints. There's one subject on SB that nobody has really touched upon yet that I find really interesting. As the night goes on, you begin to notice the animatronics becoming less shiny, and getting extremely dirty, even before Gregory destroys them. I've always wondered why that was, there's no way a good couple hours of roaming a pizzeria makes robots THAT dirty. it also makes me wonder if perhaps sound disks are involved in making sure the robots "look" clean for each show

I just realized something rewatching this. Maybe the spring locks in the fun time suits doesn't mean that the suits were made earlier than we had originally thought. Maybe the spring locks are actually there because Afton put them there as a means to get out the remnant and the children. If you have a system that works IE the spring locks, why would you get rid of that if you don't plan on wearing the suit in the first place and you have to remove a human body anyway. The whole reason he put the spring locks on the suits was so he could remove the captured children. Granted the chest plates seemed pretty easy pry open, but what would happen in the event that maybe one of the animatronics went a little haywire or the scoop mechanism worked a little too hard and there was blood inside of the suit. All we would have to do is remove the spring locks and wash the plastic parts of the suit. The suits were made exactly when we thought they were made. Afton just used his old systems because he knew exactly what he wanted to use the suits for
