This is the most informative thing I have seen for us anglers to do this winter because I have been looking for a place to buy my flies and I see right here how to make my own and I have a friend who loves to fish more than me and he's always broke he could easily sell these flies at any Bait shop any where's. Thank you so much for these hands on Tie-Flying !!.

I started tying a willow fly in Jr high and made some plugs but after jrhigh that all stopped tell I hit 76 years old, now I'm starting all over just like a newbie. It is great to see you tie so many flies, you make it look so easy. Keep up the good work.

What kind of bead is that in the very first one? I can't find them anywhere
@karstenmurphy3489 Жыл бұрын
That's a plastic bead egg. You usually tie on a hook and peg them 1 inch from the hook. The fish hits the egg, then it gets flossed with the tippet, and the hook slides in. I use this rig all the time and it's super effective.

I'm no pro, still learning, pay attention to what bug is hatching and select your fly accordingly. There are several flies that mimic different bugs, like the Adams patachute, depending on colors, appears to be a mayfly or a stonefly to the trout or fish. There's a lot more to this sport than bass fishing, from the rod and reel to the line to leader and tipet to the fly choice. Hope this helps. Good luck and keep on fishing.

If I may ask, what size hook/bead combo do you favor? What is your source of those beads... Love your videos!
@MainelyFlies9 ай бұрын
I like to use Fire Hole beads and hooks. But I dont favor any particular size all depends on what I'm after and how deep I want to get it. Thats why I dont mention it. These selections are very situational

This is one of the best ones. I also like charlies fly box, fly fish food and Davie McPhail. Actually, there are quite a few that I like. This one is nice and short and to the point. It's good if you want to see how the pattern is tied. Some others go into too much detail....which I like at times, but not when I just want to see the pattern. But yeah really well done channel. Always check it first when looking for a pattern

One of the biggest trout I've caught was on a fly tied to look like a pellet they feed fish at hatcheries 🤣 Cool channel though. I wish I had youtube to learn from when I was a kid in the 90s. Way harder trying to learn from books and magazines. I picked fly tying up again a few years ago though. Crazy how much you can remember after not doing it for 20 years! Actually I honestly think I was BETTER than when I stopped. Maybe just better tools and materials, I dunno🤷♂
