As someone who runs Newcastle, his ultimate is very finicky... you'll aim it on a solid advantage spot, but one slight movement right before launch and you'll find yourself dropping unintentionally and potentially leave yourself wide open.

Happened to me 3 times last night In ranked and got us all killed, it could have allowed us to reset but instead it throws me off a building and in the open

@danielpritchard1465 I actually had a situation recently where I went to take height, but a teammate ran by just as I launched and it auto-locked onto them, causing us both to be stuck playing the wall like 6 ft(2m) from launching point 🤦🏽. Guess I'll keep practicing, though.

Yeah very similar to Ash. You’re really better off pressing the buttons to ready your ultra and take a good 2-3 seconds to aim where you want it to be

Newcastle is unpopular because: 1. Most Apex players have a "me first" mindset in this game and will trend towards legends with kits that focus on mobility and ease of use 2. Castle's kit is tricky to use, especially on controller. Being able to reposition his barricade mid gunfight or deploying his ultimate in the correct place takes a lot if practice 3. He's a HUGE target, like Esidi said. Most players will avoid Castle simply because of that alone 4. Castle is the most fun to play when you have a decent team to support, which can be hard to find when you solo queue

I think Newcastle is a really strong Legend when you have good teammates who fight together. His mobile shield is really strong when you have allies who can cover the sides and punish enemies who try to get a flank, his revive ability is really strong if you have an ally to lay down covering fire. But the way people tend to play Apex is very selfish, which makes a very team-based Legend like Newcastle look weaker than he actually is.

You posted this a while ago but just wanna say I 100% agree. I main newcastle and am lucky to have strong teammates who cover me. The brutal thing about his tactical is how you can jump behind or to the side of an enemy, throw the mobile down, and with that force the enemy to either look at you and get shot by your teammates OR ignore you and get shotgunned to the noggin. Im relatively new to the game, I struggle in normal fights but the second that mobile shield is up I find myself winning fights for my team. Feels awesome

Newcastle is by far the best support legend in any form support in advancing protecting attacking closing off he's literally gibby the mobile version the down falls to New castle is the same thing that makes him incredibly lethal and that's his ability to essentially give u cover instantly new castle is strictly for team oriented ppl if you play solo with Newcastle you lose the advantages he has when a friendly is down hurt healing etc he is by far the best legend that can get you out of any situation or apply pressure to the situation 💯 you are only as strong as your commitment to winning as a team apex is not boxing golf it is team oriented and only structure will enjoy the success new castle has to offer 🥇

as an ex gibby main who plays NC from time to time my biggest problem is that you can NOT use nc Q reactively because it takes so long to throw out which is horrible because if you want to get value out of ur Q you are going to have to throw it light years before anything happens especially in comparison to gibby

@@Esidi I mean from diamond below it never works really because the random teammates are always spread out and rotations are improvised and silly so you end up with 5 teams in the open with little to zero cover so the teammates die instantly if not because they're alone because we get fked from behind by another team
