I once played a similar modpack (not public unfortunately), although packed a bit with technology, there were attack hordes every 3 days and zombies also were able to build up etc. Even though I mostly was staying in the building due to how zombies behaved I had suspiciously similar experience. Thankfully, gold revolver was truly a powerful gut for the slaughterhouse called The Dead Man's Hand.

The way badMobs works, it only prevents blacklisted mobs from spawning. To kill the new ones, you need to enable one of the options in the config.
