Couple remarks: 1. You can build support beams to prevent cave-ins while mining 2. Actually a better (cheesier?) way to deal with temporal storms is to simply find a wide open field without too many other hazards and just run around there for the duration of the storm. The thing is, the drifters aren't exactly great runners. they'll occasionally throw a stone at you but you're better off just dodging/outhealing that than running the risk of trapping yourself with a high level drifter in your own bedroom. 3. Is this your first attempt? Pretty impressive. 4. I cant believe they made the actual end boss of the game, the much-dreaded bear, even harder by allowing it to jump up friggin 4 (four!) blocks high!
@gugu52859 күн бұрын
it cant jump that high, it does however have a bigger "step" range, so if youre 3 blocks up and have one more block even 2 blocks away from that it will vault up solution is just have flat ground and a wall. or yknow, go up with 4 packed dirt and poke it with a spear

Vintage Story is insane, because the game is slow, but you have so many things to handle in order to not die that you never have nothing to do, at least for the first year. I have played an irl month on a server with a bunch of friends. We had a lot of pain doing farm, breed, forge and stock for the first winter. But the next in game year we were more prepared, with a lot more anticipation and faster work given by the new tools. We finally got the time to just enjoy the time to build, and contemplate the landscape we were fighting in for so many hours. It was so sick. I grade it : damn, this freaking winter / 10 🦄

So, about the cave ins... You know how old mineshafts always have wooden supports on each side? Yeah, took me a while to figure out aswell
@MorfsPrower2 ай бұрын
Yeah, in 7Days they have a similar weight system for all build materials and world blocks. The best strategy is to pillar up every few blocks and make support arches. Wood holds the longest overhangs with weight in the game, so it makes for a stable construction resource compared to rocks cement or metal. Oddly enough I am really satisfied by survival games which factor in that floating islands are not a thing... As much as I love floating islands.

@@birb1221 It's the same difference though. Numerous cases in history where guys will find holes in the ground, flooded or otherwise, and explore them. We're just coming to terms with the reasoning behind why support timbers are a thing when it comes to mineshafts, which are borderline no different from caves (and some of them are just caves they kept digging into) where bad weather alone can loosen the rock around you and make it collapse. The same principle applies to avalanches, mudslides, quicksand, etc. All it takes is moisture to erode the foundations and cause rock to crumble and sediment to roll.

I loved playing Vintage Story with my friends. It reminds me of what Minecraft could be capable of, if we wouldn't get one mentionable update in a few years

Vintage Story is such a wonderful, beautiful, painfully difficult game at times. And I love it.

it's wild to me how a game can look both so incredibly appealing and incredibly offputting at the same time. The visual style (except the player character lmao) is incredibly nice, and there are some really cool ideas at play here. But the combination of "realistic" survival mechanics and processes also seem like several layers of overkill.

it has really great mod support and there are a couple tech mods out there already. QPTech is one of the main ones

I had to stop for a second at 7:47 when I realized I was being thrown back to the Newground days. I recognize ParagonX9's music anywhere, nice choice.

if Vintage Story is a Minecraft clone, Half-Life 1 is a Doom clone. also, good music taste.

The Chaos Faction music at 7:45 was surprising. Haven't heard that outside of my own music playlist in a long time.
@the-letter_s2 ай бұрын
@@rerere284 same here. the outro music was also surprising, that whole genre doesn't really appear in videos like this that often.
