I hate the skirt and short sections also. But ... I have found Vince lambskin shorts new with tags retail $895 - I paid $4.99. Found Johnny Was for $5.99 retail $118. And Smartwool quilted skirt for $5.99 retail $120.

I agree with you on shoes…only if like new condition. I hate cleaning shoes and as a buyer, I would only buy new condition shoes. In general, I’m only sourcing new and like new items. I think even though buyers know they are purchasing preowned, they expect like new. Also, be careful about sourcing brands that are liquidated. PM is overflowing with NWT Good American, skims, MacDuggal, Re/Done, etc.

So interesting to hear what categories you normally skip when sourcing. Tops in particular have been my best selling category for the last 4 years, but I often hear resellers say they skip that section when sourcing. I also recently found an adidas x farm rio dress and I couldn't find it anywhere online. It sold quickly on ebay for $50+.

I found a Meghan Fabulous Grateful Dead tank top. I never heard of the brand but I paid $3 for it and sold it for $75 over night. I was so excited! :)

If I am limited with time…my priority (soft goods/clothing) sections to look through are jackets, then activewear. Pants are probably the very lowest in the way I prioritize the Women’s side of the store. I almost never look through pants.

I volunteer in a thrift store and we actually use the money we make from sales to fund our programs which include a dental clinic, various services and free clothing for our local school kids. The point is to make money from selling donated items to use for our charitable programs, not only to provide inexpensive clothing for people on a limited budget. So it is a win win :)
