I switched to PC gaming back in 2010, and the experience you're having now brings back a lot of nostalgia. We PC gamers sometimes forget how something that feels so routine to us can be a big deal for console gamers who are just making the transition to PC. We get so spoiled on PC that sometimes we don’t realize just how good we have it until we take a look at the console side. I can’t imagine gaming without the ability to turn off motion blur, turn off depth of field, and adjust the field of view to my liking while playing at a minimum of 60 FPS. Such basic features that we take for granted.

BUT I’m moving more and more to gaming more on my pre built PC I got awhile back because consoles are getting more expensive for what you get. One thing people forget about with consoles is that you have to pay a sub for online play and cloud saves, don’t have to on PC for the most part. I love the ease of use of consoles, but if they’re going to keep going up in price for the performance and extra costs you have to deal with, I’m starting to lean more and more to my PC.

I'm going to start my pc journey in 2025 when the RTX 5090 is being revealed. I'm still saving some money know. I've been a long time playstation fan but in my opinion pc has now way more benefits. It's always upgradable, you can play a lot of games (also playstation exclusives), games are mostly way cheaper, no subscription payment for online gaming (Playstation plus), if you want you can pair it up with your tv, no limits in game quality regarding performance/quality mode. You can not only use it as your game machine but also for other things like work, music production, video editing and more heavy tasks. If you have a steam deck you can even play your games on the go, save the game and continue the game on your pc.

Nice! I upgraded to the RTX 3080 about four years ago, and I don’t plan on upgrading again until the year 2028 or 2030. So about 6 more years from now. My RTX 3080 handles everything in my backlog with ease, so any upgrade now or next year would feel like a waste. I’ve barely even tapped into its full potential. I absolutely love this card and plan to keep using it for 10 years before my next upgrade! I love how long a good GPU can stay relevant for PC gaming, and the best part is that all your old games still work seamlessly after an upgrade. With next gen consoles, there’s always the uncertainty of whether the manufacturer will support older games or if you’ll have to wait and possibly repurchase remasters. I just can't see myself going back losing access to all my games like that. I still use emulators to play the classics I grew up with from time to time too.

'Master race' is indeed a funny term in the pc community, with low/mid tier owners being the most vocal. It should speak for the versatility of said platform not just '60+fps'. You wont see that with the higher spec owners (well a small degree) but rather the ability to enjoy high fps & high resolution while enjoying what they love at a modest fps. I still play my S daily because I know its limitations and enjoy it, whereas with my PC, I'm trying to constantly push it to the limit. And thats the worst part of owning a PC. When you start pushing hard witj upscalers, then you need more RAM. Then you need a better TV/Monitor. It never ends. Currently waiting on prices of 8k 120hz tvs to drop so I can snag one. Being able to use any hardware, peripherals, OS, programs/apps, launcher/storefront outweigh any price argument for me. I really see no need in purchasing one even at a discount. I can wait for games no problem as I got way too many to finish and any money I could spend on a console I could put that towards a PC part. My current PC crushes these consoles and everything I hear these console only players complain they aren't getting from these consoles I have and yes I did play a quite a hefty price for my gpu. Best Advice I can give is make the PC Gaming wiki your new friend if you're having problems setting up games, riva tuner for capping framerates when using a TV instead of a monitor (not just frame rates, frame pacing is also very important - it what makes the stuttering feel worse) and searching out optimised setting plus game on youtube to get the best performance while maintaining visual fidelity.
@knifeknerdreviews460929 күн бұрын
What stuttering? 🤣 Man I must be spoiled or something I never have problems with my PC, Games always play flawlessly aside from any in game bugs. Riva Tuner? Maintain a clean system with up to date drivers and no bloatware, might find you have less issues.

@@knifeknerdreviews4609 I don't have any problems with my system either and keep it pretty clean (a lot of those tools are useless or placebo's). He said he's using a TV and not a monitor so I suggested capping his frame rate (riva tuner is really good for this especially if there isn't an in game frame limiter) because getting any frame rates over 120 on his TV will be wasted and possibly muck up his frame pacing which will come across as stuttering even with a powerful card - it's not just high frame rates but also even frame pacing that makes gameplay feel smooth - why 30 fps usually feels smoother on a console than on PC, they're built for 30 fps.
@knifeknerdreviews460929 күн бұрын
@Nah_Mate_Aint_Nowt Ahh ok that makes sense I guess. Never had that problem because I always keep the graphics maxxed out so there is no way I am hitting over 120 fps on a 4080 on most games.

@@knifeknerdreviews4609 That's fair enough, I just know what it's like to run a pc through a TV on HDMI and not a high frequency monitor. I also find it's less rough on my card as well when I don't max everything out (a lot of those ultra settings do very little but can cost a lot and add to wear and tear) so I get pretty high frame rates with good visuals, which can effect the frame pacing, (which for me is just as important as frame rate - I am and a lot of people can be pretty sensitive to it - think it's where a lot a frame rate arguments start because people can feel it differently) especially on older games or unlocked frame rates - frame rates on consoles are also far less variable so you feel it more when you jump to PC.

Happy to hear it's going well. I originally was on PS4 back in the day and made the switch to PC as my main in 2019. Going from 1080p/30 to 1080p/60+ was beyond a game changer as an action games player. It can't be overstated how just knowing your game will at minimum be at 60fps makes me more comfortable having invested so heavily into PC at this point where I'm at 1440p/80+. The biggest thing that I think people don't realize why PC consistently gets suggested against the PS5 Pro is simply that the pro is an in the moment purchase. Come PS6 generation that thing is going to be dropped just as hard as the PS4 Pro did and any future support will be a jarring battle like with what is happening with the PS4 and PS5. With PC you're honestly covering your ground for about 2 console generations, or at this rate possibly even more than that. So yeah $700 is less now, but when Sony asks for another $500 or more while also limiting what I did with my library and tech I would say the appeal of having my library through Steam and Game Pass just made the most sense to get my $1800-ish (I've upgraded and sold older parts to offset mostly up to this point) filing cabinet that makes me feel like I made the right move years ago I felt validated.

Even less if you buy a used GPU. So you can build a plenty serviceable PC for the same ballpark. BUT, once you factor in game price. Steam Discounts, the price becomes even more competitive. And being able to play all your games on one system. PC has some really solid reasons to use. a PC can be more expensive, but its value is higher than a console. even a $2,000 PC has higher value than a ps5 at $500. can ps5 do native 1440p? no. high fps? no. if it can't do these important things, how it has the same value as a PC that can? a $900ish PC with rx 7800xt can do native 1440p/60 fps, and you use upscaler for higher fps. it's worth every $$$ you spent. PC has free online. consoles have paid online. that's $60 minimum per year. every year that pass PC value goes up by $60 cause free online. and this is 1 of the many factors that increase the value of PC. people think that a console and PC have the same value. they don't. it's like saying that a Ferrari and a Kia have the same value cause both are cars. PC = Ferrari, console = Kia.
@AskMoonBurst28 күн бұрын
@@SapiaNt0mata Well, obviously. But putting a 500 console against a 2000 PC is hardly a fair piece. I'm trying to push the price to performance. And PC wins in that super quickly once games get factored in. It's a lot harder to justify the jump from 500 to 2000. But if you consider the price of games, 500-700. That's about three or four games. There's a lot more reasonable investment into PC in that general price bracket.

Welcome to PC! 🎉 I actually started playing on PC on integrated graphics in 2012 😂 There is so much to explore just within PC gaming itself. Not just mainstream gaming, but modding, emulating and more. You can even play your physical games on PC too if you don't like the idea of downloading ROMs. I've only have done that with PS2 games but there might be adapters for cartridges too since there is a large and active retro gaming scene on PC.

We should be holding Nintendo to the same 60 FPS standard as everyone else. Don't let Nintendo slide simply because they make "cartoon games." There's a reason why I prefer to play BotW on my PC via emulation instead of on either a Switch or my Wii U (which I do have a copy of BotW for). On PC I get to play it at 1080p and 60 FPS, and that's only because I only have a 1080p monitor right now. Believe me, it's a much better experience this way.

It's because PCs are easier to live with now. Even now, I promise you will still come across issues playing games in the future whereas a console will just work. The pros vs cons are definitely swaying in favour of PCs now. Also people who are not into tech do not realise the benefit of a PS5 pro, whilst I am happy it exists, console makers need to market to FIFA and COD casual bros mainly now.

Steam deck/consoles allow a plug and play and more portable experience. Not to mention the Steam Deck is a great device for anyone who already owns a PC. PC is the powerhouse that is also the multitool for many other things you can do with it. In my opinion the best combo of these things is to have a PC and Steam Deck, and perhaps a PlayStation or Nintendo device.

You don't want to load your OS too much because it will slow down the system. Amazing video fam. Loved hearing you are into new things

I love your enthusiasm. Welcome to the Master race! I do however have one small complaint: this weird notion, that EVERY zoomer influencer appears to parrot, that you would NEED to burn 2k USD to get a decent gaming PC. I have never paid even HALF of that on my computers the past 20 years, and all of them served me well, almost for a decade each. 600€ gets you a system with Ryzen 7, 16-32GB DDR4 and RTX 3060ti, which will easily run any game at native 1080p, real 60 to 120 fps, with decently high settings. Including heav8er tasks like PS3 emulation. And I must stress the NATIVE and REAL parts, because all these DLSS and FSR upscalers and framegens muddy the conversation these days; the new SH2 remake for example runs at choppy 30fps and 800-1200p on the PS5, where as even my old GTX1060 with R5 5600X could do 60 with very little effort! And I just replaced said GPU with 3060 12GB, paid only 200e for one.

However, I was never a graphics whore until Cyberpunk 2077 came along with that ray-tracing implementation. Even now, four years on, it never fails to completely blow my balls off every time I turn it on. Most of the time I end up squatting around, inspecting real-time neon-soaked puddles and window reflections. It's utterly astonishing. I was super-lucky to end up with a 3080FE just a week before the game launched (here in the Netherlands, where they outright stopped selling them because of the demand/supply) but now I'm looking forward to next year's 5090 build so that I can hopefully experience path-tracing at a fully playable level and takes things up a considerable notch.

So I was a PC gamer back in the early 2000s but it was poor experience, so I went back to console as it was simple. I would say recently the steam deck and PS5 was a reintroduction to the PC marketplace because I had so many already great games. When I decide to upgrade fully to a PC or back to a gaming laptop. I'll have a complete experience. Emulation, Mods, and console gaming doesn't come close of giving players the access they actually care about. For every generation, you had to buy a newer version of the game to get the best possible results. With PC, it's buy once, and that is it.
