As a guest of US Civil rights Organizer , Charles Cobb Jr. Kenya's Independence VP Oginga Odinga was once arrested in Atlanta while in Atlanta protesting against Black discrimination together with 17 other SNCC students . This was an embarrassment for the relations between US and Kenya after the state realized that they had locked up Kenya VP . He refused to leave jail until all the black students were released . His wishes were granted .

Uganda’s first president Milton Obote was founding member of Kenya's Independence party and worked together with VP Oginga Odinga to transfer Mwai Kibaki from Makerere as a lecturer to Kenya as the first independence party executive officer in 1960 . There is road in Kisumu named Obote road .

Milton Obote was a frequent visitor to Kisumu and was denied asylum in Kenya by Daniel Moi in 1985 due to his close friendship with VP Oginga Odinga . Odungi Randa was personal assistant to Oginga Odinga and in his youth travelled to Uganda to start marriage negotiations with a Luo-Acholi fiancée but the marriage never materialized as Idi Amin wiped out the entire family of the girl .

VP Oginga Odinga of Kenya and President Milton Obote(Luo-Langi) of Uganda started efforts to unite the Luo of East ,Central, North/North East Africa . The first headquarters of Luo Union was in Kisumu at the OFAFA MEMORIAL HALL . Ambrose Ofafa was the first treasurer of Luo Union and was killed during the British Colonial state of emergency under dubious circumstances . The funeral was conducted in Alego Kargada in Nyanza Kenya .

Gerald Otieno Kanjwang, Ndolo Ayah, Ochieng Oneko, Njeru Githae were there too, but we were focused on Jaramogi. Later my classmate, Wachira Kiboi and I, visited him at this Bondo home on our weekend outing. At UoN, Wachira and I saw him every week at AGIP House. We were also leaders in SONU and youth leaders in Ford Kenya. Jaramogi was a statesman and a Kenyan patriot.

Simba is the first house a son builds in his fathers home till he feels like he's of age to have his own home. In the olden days, a son wasn't allowed to marry in that house as it was a house he was only allowed to sneak in his girlfriends so when he was of age to marry he was expected to build a new house to marry in however those have been over taken by events.
