I Spent Hours Changing My Transfer Case Chain... Only to Realize It Wasn't Necessary!

Decided that it's time to change chain on Ford Explorer BW1354 transfer case.. well at least now i'll be sure that chain is in good condition..

I commented a long time ago that I bought one for 300$ and didn’t know what was wrong with it. Turns out it Jsut needed a new battery and now it’s a good 4x4 that engages all gears and in Low. Very happy with my purchase

Hello friend, do you know what could be the reason that the BW4405 transfer case does not transfer the drive to the front axle? The car on the lift normally spins 4 wheels, but in the field it does the rear only ... Could it be the fault of the chain, or rather worn friction discs?

Hi, at first I would suggest to check shift motor. Just remove it and try to select 4 low manually. Maybe electric shifter stopped working

@@shittysolutions Shift motor is operational 😥 switches between fast and slow gear, shaft speed sensors also give the reading looks more like the coil is not closing the front drive (or the discs are already worn). Fortunately, I have a new reducer, but I don't know if it's worth disassembling it and trying to resuscitate it ...

Oh, that's bad news, without opening transfer case you won't be able to know what kind of issue it has. Easiest solution is to change transfer case into working one and forget about it 😅
