Thank you for the haul and also taking time to tell us the prices. I stay along Mombasa Road, will always go to Kamukunji. Bought two tier, foldable dish rack at ksh 3,750 and quality is amazing and also bigger than your rack. I wish I was able to the share the photo.

They mainly sell household items. Clothes would not be 'easy' for them. This other stuff is easier for them-no sizes, designs, trends etc.

Mega Stores!! All in 🤠. Forget those containerpreneurs. They are not an effecient distribution system. The mega store will reduce the cost of every day household items, giving consumers a break. Kenyans deserve a break. Keep China Square Open and lets have more mega stores all over Kenya.

@@dee6630 Nobody is taking away your rights to citizenship. What we are saying is that there are no “Golden Traders” in this Republic entitled to special protections. This is a free market economy, and you must compete or exit the market. I find your argument without merit. You have no right to demand a special pass to trade in higher prices. That is harmful to the economy. Anyways I am sure you will wise up and figure out how to import with larger volumes, or subsequently lower your margins in order to remain competitive. Bottom line, the Kenyan consumer wins.

For clothes, I saw items like raincoats or accessories like bags. For shoes, I saw working shoes only, like factory hard-sole shoes, but not everyday wear. That I didn't see. It's mostly household items, electronics, furniture, and tools for building or farming.

I agree with that too. Time surely does tell. However, the government plans to increase taxes on all imports. Maybe, to wage war on China square or balance out the prices of all imports coming into the country. Let's wait and see how it plays out.

Firstly, I don't think just because you've visited China Square, that automatically rules you out as an 'unsupportive' Kenyan. We buy local every other day, but if a shop comes into the country that fulfils my desires as a consumer, I will visit it regardless of who the owner is. It's a game of meeting my consumer needs, and there some China Square does that for them, and there some it doesn't.

What happens to ordinary Kenyan owned small businesses in kamakunji who are selling the exact same goods even often cheaper? Many countries in the developed world protect their small scale business by giving them tax breaks or low interest rate for them to thrive and compete against big businesses so if our government is not doing that we have to support them and also keep in mind this companies specially Chinese owned businesses will not reinvest back their profits in kenya. #supportyourown
