The part about Hollyleaf and Ivypool is so true, although there’s a scene where Ivy thinks to herself that Hollyleaf is super cool which I thought was pretty cute. I feel like I get what they were trying to go for with both of them being the “odd man out” prophecy wise, but I really wish they got some actual bonding scenes to better justify having Hollyleaf sacrifice herself for Ivypool like that.

This is my favorite book of the series. I loved how the clans actually got together and formed a battle plan; with contingencies, no less; and then carried it out. The only thing that holds it back for me is how they killed Hollyleaf; they just decide to drag a cat with a neck wound all the way from WindClan camp to ThunderClan camp just so she can give a goodbye to her mother. She would have almost certainly survived if she received treatment where she was injured. Here’s a note, if you ever see someone with a severe injury, never move them unless there is an immediate danger of them being injured further.

Thunder, Gray Wing, and Turtle Tail are not comparable at ALL lmao, because there, Thunder acknowledges Gray Wing as the cat who raised him, the cat he trusts, and his father figure (while still leaving the door open for Clear Sky who occasionally steps through it and is currently just chilling on the door frame), while Turtle Tail reiterates constantly that while Gray Wing isnt their bio dad, hes still their father, and they still acknowledge him as such even when theyre adults and literally about to leave

It is funny that this book features 2 scenes where Lionblaze intentionally lets himself be beaten up, only to then be yelled at. Firstly there's that Ratscar moment, but there's also a scene with Brightheart where he "shows" Brightheart and Daisy how good queens are at protecting their kits. He does it by pretending to attack one of Bright's kits resulting in Brightheart whooping him and Daisy yelling at him for attacking a child.

It's especially upsetting how when Breezepaw didn't have other older Windclan warriors near, he was significantly easier to interact with (not quite nice, but less bitter,) and that breaks my heart because holy crap, I don't think he had many cats in the clan besides his mother who actually cared about him. This is the last WC book I fully read. Honestly one of the best endings I could think of for the series to end as a whole. I feel like after Firestar, things weren’t the same and the quality of the books declined because I just couldn’t get into the new characters. Maybe I should try to read DOTC if I get the chance. The Last Hope was the last book from "modern day" I read too! I felt (at the time) that I just didn't need to know anything more after that. The character who was our intro to the world died, it was a nice pretty bow with some neat themes. I did read DOTC after that, because I honestly thought it would be the last WC series. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, boy was I wrong. I totally recommend it, I honestly think it's my favorite arc out of all of them! Plus, it's really nice to have characters with no attachment to the characters and less of the pitfalls of modern warrior cats culture. I haven't read any of the books since, for much the same reasons you stated.
