Hello Ms Wanda and Danny I just wanted to share with you all and your viewers some of the different store brands of White Vinegar are changing to 4% acidity instead of 5 % acidity and if you are pickling you need 5% for it to make your food shelf stable so don't forget to look at the jugs before you buy them stay safe everyone!

Don't feel bad Wanda, i couldn't wait on mine either. I've been out twice already digging Potatoes from my German Butterball patch and frying tater patch. This is my first year growing "Lay's" Kennebec's down in Virginia instead of Northern Maine. The plants started yellowing up after 2-1/2 months and i figured they were done even with daily rainstorms, but after three weeks they greened back up and kept going so i couldn't figure it out. So i got my Toro Dingo mini skid steer and scooped up about 4 foot worth then backed into the grass and dumped it slowly out while spreading it and got almost 14 pounds worth of big number Lay's potatoes. Then i test dug some Rare German Butterball taters and they are still averaging around 3 inches and need more time, but were very good baked. They just melted in my mouth and taste like someone already buttered them. The skin dissolved without even chewing it also. Very good potato for people that have trouble sleeping. I Ate about 2 hands worth and slept for 12 straight hours.

I've grown Georgia Jets in Pennsylvania several years with good success. If you want a nice sized potato with good flavor these are what you want. The only draw back to them is they vine like crazy and take the area over with vines. One year, it was a good year for sweet potatoes, I dug one that was as large as a football. It still was fine tasting and not woody as I expected. Georgia Jets are a great variety if you can handle the vine length.

I like your arsenal. Otherwise, I'm looking up old-fashioned recipe book sweet potato recipes because, Wanda, you inspired me. And here in far north California, zone 9, onions, garlic, concord grapes, apricots, nectarines, and peaches are harvested, and saving broccoli seed, garlic clove seed, onion seed, squash seed, potato seed, and shelling pea seeds. Strange that the squirrels are eating my yet ripe bell pepper. Never saw them eat peppers. Watch out for September in this nation.

GEORGIA JET sweet potatos are listed as being 100 DAYS to harvest. I have grown them because we only get 90-odd days of heat in the summer and so long-season varieties do not yield well. Sweet potatos do NOT like our cool spring and fall and so I raise the short-season varieties

We can grow Beauregard variety in the UK, so don't be surprised if you get huge ones in your climate.
@pilsplease7561 Жыл бұрын
Beauregard is the best cultivar of sweet potato, its the most disease resistant, crack resistant, shortest growing cycle, and to top it all off its the sweetest of all of them, they are trying to railroad people into planting the inferior covington which is trash, its uniform and small in size thats why but the flavor is terrible and it gets diseases left right and center.
