@@beekeeper2036 And thats the way it should be. The only time I think anyone should say something is if someone in the relationship is being used and abused, (I.E, in an abusive relationship, being taken advantage of, etc) Then yea, by all means say, you need to leave him/her, and here's why, cuz we all deserve happiness especially those we care about. But to feel like you have the right to shame someone for having a relationship where they are happy, their needs are met, etc, all because they're with someone who may look different, have different views, etc, that is petty. And I'm sorry, but that host needed to check himself. You can't stand for acceptance and equality with other races, and then shun those from the black community who are in a relationship with someone from another race. Its mind boggling, like that is the very embodiement of someone from another race saying "I accept you, I love you, you're more then just a shade of skin" and yet somehow thats a bad thing? So shortsighted. . .

When I joined the Army I married a women of color and had a son. for the better part of 2 months, no one at my first assignment, had met my wife. When the fist "family day" came. She pulled up and my son ran up to me and jumped into my arms, she walked up and smooched me. My section leader, a very overtly "proud black man" was pissed. Yelled at me, "You never told me your wife was BLACK!!" I simply replied, "You never asked." and walked off. I'm not a vengeful person typically. But the look of shame and self reflection on many of the black guys faces was smugly enjoyable. After all this was in 1999, and me an her where from a small town in the Midwest, so we'd taken heaps of shit just for dating, from both black and white people. My partner is half (not black and white, as it doesn't matter what half he is, because it still relates to how people just don't like interracial couples), his parents experienced the same thing when they dated. They were given looks and spat on, because they were not of the same race. (recently watched a segment on the Fresh Prince of Bel'air, when Will's aunt brought home her fiancé whom was a white man. Everyone was in shock, and specifically, Will's mother said she will not go to a wedding where her sister is marrying a white man.) Nothing pisses me off more than seeing people have such adversary towards interracial couples. It actually makes me happy to see interracial couples, because it shows that they fell deeply in love despite the boundaries placed on them, despite families disowning them, despite a lot of factors that come with being an interracial couple, and they can look past any prejudices that come with having a different skin colour, that they also came together despite their different cultures and upbringings. Like in Africa, apparently you will not see interracial couples, even today, it just doesn't happen, only IF its a foreigner, like European or something, but you will never see a white African and a black African dating. My mother even had a co-worker who was African and when she moved to Australia, she could not believe the amount of interracial couples she was seeing, because it just doesn't happen in Africa. This makes me feel like segregation based on race is still very alive and well in todays society.

I'm in an interracial marriage and my problem is people assuming I hate black men or have some kind of "self hate" because of it. I've dated almost every race out there, I just happened to marry a white man, but it had nothing to do with the color of his skin. People put too much importance on the physical attributes of others. I've seen my friends stay with men who absolutely disrespected them at every turn because they "looked good"🤦🏽♀️

Tiffany as a black woman I agree with you. I totally agree. This perverse infatuation with race is unhealthy. I've dated pretty much every race as well. Race is irrelevant to me. The fact there is still a certain stigma around interracial couples is not good, but it is slowly going away. I've had very meaningful relationships with all races. Just date who you are attracted to and screw the people that have issues with it, at the end of the day that is their problem not yours.

As a black woman who dates white men, I will say I get a lot of flack and scrutiny from black people (black women included for those who think it’s only the men). Hell I get called all types of racial slurs by other black people for my choice in dating white men, it’s wild. I have dated other race of men outside of black as well but what I’ve notice is that black people are way more triggered by me dating a white man verses when I’ve dated an Asian or Hispanic man. Despite what others may say, feel or think about your healthy dating choices, I always encourage for people to never limit your dating pool because you never know what who may await you.💕
