'I drink not from mere joy of wine nor to scoff at faith - no, only to forget myself for a moment, that only do I want of intoxication, that alone' - Omar Khayyam What you said reminded me of this quote.

good point, "no one cares if you do or don't....no one cares" that is powerful in a good way.

The 0% chance rule, I can apply and relate to this. I have absorbed so many "I stopped drinking" videos over so many years, I stop drinking, then start up again and end up watching testimony's on KZbin. Your video is new to me and hands-down the most real life version of what giving up alcohol is truly like, it is hard, friends do pressure, giving up is easy, especially when stating "I will never drink again", so easy to fail. Your mantra of the process and behaviors giving up drinking and staying sober based on reasonable goals is perfect, so many out videos go the opposite hard-core direction of the behaviors and attitudes about "never drinking again, period"... it's an easy fail scenario, thanks Jeffrey, great and comprehensive insight.

I appreciate the break-down Don. How are you doing with the alcohol intake now?

Great video, thanks! I have some bad habits going on. I’m on adderall to get through work, but I get side effects at the end of the day, like a dopamine crash (irritability, depressing/anxious thoughts etc). Over the past few years, alcohol and weed have become a habit increasingly for me to combat those things. Then I wake up the next day feeling like crap, and it’s more adderall, the tolerance grows, so the amount I take goes up, the crash is worse so I drink and smoke more than the day/week/month before. I’m stuck in this cycle, feeling the slippery slope of addiction. Anyway, I really appreciate you telling your story and sharing practical advice.

Damn bro, sorry to hear that. I was actually thinking of trying out adderal to focus as I have ADHD. But if I were to do it, I would only take it 1x per week. I think it's healthier that way, have you tried hopping off it for a few days?
