I love how midwestern emo and genres like it always sound like they were recorded in someone's basement or a college dorm room at 1 am. And I specifically mean 1 am.

A couple years ago my friend and I were driving up to a place in the mountains to find the spot where his ex had just died in a car wreck. She rolled her car in December right before Christmas on black ice. We went to say goodbye and since we do paranormal investigation we had our EVPs and ghost radar on. He was also on speaker phone with our other friend who is a medium. Our equipment lit up all of a sudden and at the EXACT moment our medium friend made contact with his ex and was telling us that she was entering another life and for my friend to not be sad and it's all going to be okay, I noticed When Winter Ends suddenly came on and Conor was saying It's gonna be alright over and over again at the very same moment she said that to him. I know the song is about something else but everything coincided perfectly. The energy in the car raised and it's like nothing I've ever seen or felt since. I had never even heard that song before then and I have loved Bright Eyes forever. The fact that it involved a car and winter ending and getting past the dead and eternal snow and slowly dying still gives me goosebumps even today. I don't care if you don't believe in ghosts or the afterlife bc that shit was real af and thank you for putting it on this mix and whoever reads this.

I mean I get what you are saying and in general it's not bad to take a step back and be thankful for what you have. However, to take your point to the extrem, you could say nobody is allowed to feel bad about anything if there are still people who have it way worse. This is just not helpful. Sure, there might be people all over the world starving but right now *I* feel like shit and I need help with *my* problems - just telling people to "suck it up, it's not that bad" has proven again and again to not be particularly helpful. It's okay to feel bad, no matter what someone else might have to go through. But at the same time be compassionate with everyone struggling because you can't imagine what they are feeling. And try to be there for those who have it worse than you.
