You can make infite water in a 2 deep hole. With dirt%dravel/sand on bottom. Place water at the top and bonemeal the bottom block. Creates 2x water sources.

PAULGG You only need 1 water block to make multiple water sources using 1 bone meal Dig down two blocks in a + shape 3 up and down and 3 left to right. Assuming the bottom is dirt place 1 dirt block on the middle at the bottom, place the water on that 1 block and wait for it to flow, now bone meal the 1 block of raised dirt... Congrats you now have 5 water sources

Not sure if this has been suggested or done before, would an expanding border by a random amount on each side be a thing other people want to watch? Day 1 = 1x1 Day 2 = 4x2 Day 3 = 4x7 etc, making the length or width chosen by a randomizer. It would be fun to see how you plan certain things out.
