this is popular in SEA countries. they took a hit during pandemic but I see a couple of them opening up again last year. This is indeed where you mostly meet your gamer friends and socialize during/after school and it's been a part of our lives growing up!

Haven’t seen one in quite a while.. in the early 2000’s ‘internet cafe’s’ were decently popular, but gaming is the future really. Or just high powered Pc’s in the general

Just came across this and I love it! I was always fascinated with the way PC gaming dominates South Korea, unlike here in the West where we generally tend to prefer consoles. I would love it if a place like this existed here in Canada. A bonus pointer is if there were free booths available designated for people that want to bring their own gaming laptops/desktops and set them up there. You could even have something like an area of circular tables with in-built outlets in the centre for like 6-8 people, similar to what they have in universities. Sadly, I just don't think the demand is here for PC cafes in particular -- even though a dedicated gaming third-space is arguable.

Back in the days when the Internet wasn't yet at all people's homes, we spent 24 hours like every other day/night :D My personal record was 78 hours in an Internet café playing Lineage 2 and Counter-Strike 1.6 :D Back then we were going to Internet cafes because we did not have Internet at home, now I see most kids going to Internet cafes to be able to get together and play with friends close irl.
