I don't think anybody won the challenge, one day is too small to judge both realities. If Tayo had spent more than one day in Makoko with no cameras following him about I wonder if the community would have continued to feed him. Shank was definitely happy, he had his friend with him, he invited his other friends to share from his bounty and he was able to do that because he had more than enough, Tayo looked lonely, he couldn't even swim in the dirty water. It's the connections we have that bring us happiness, whatever our situations in life. But life is better when you can afford good food and shelter and when you don't have desires that are unattainable to you.

Great response. ''Most people'' have tasted both sides and believe me or no, no one would want to have ''less'' but also making good connections makes a difference.

Nah I don't believe so. Tayo was uncomfortable because he wasn't used to it with time he could adapt to it, he connected with people in the community he wasn't lonely to me and if he kept up good relations and helped the continued to help out in the community maybe even getting a paid job even without the camera I think the community will still look out for him albeit not every day. Shanks would've gotten bored of the quad and the pool with time, his friends may not even like him but appreciate the escape into luxury that he provides

I honestly feel that shanks won this competition. Shanks was obviously genuinely happy with the luxury. But tayo was even worried about sleeping in the room and even swimming in the damn lagoon. Im sure Tayo would not have even lasted another day because he was obviously uncomfortable. The Judge is just capping

I could watch Shank Comics all day. The guy is mental. LOL. He and Dotun are definitely much happier in that mansion, as I would be, than Tayo was in the slum. The lesson in life is that happiness comes once you've accepted your situation or fate. Unfortunately, the folks in the slum that have resigned to fate start to look at other aspects of life for inspiration, like the Armani wearing guy who said that being alive and having food on the table were enough reasons to be happy. Unwittingly, they find happiness. If you have $1m in your account, but your goal is $10m, you won't be content even though you're not doing badly, unless you have $5m debt hanging over your head. I f you want to be happy, seek contentment first 😛

Makoko reminded me of when my mom and siblings lived in Ajegunle. This is the life there and we were happy and grateful for the experience I learnt growing up there. Your location doesn’t determine your happiness or worth, it’s the people around you that contributes to your happiness. Now I live overseas and I’m still happy whenever I remember life in Ajegunle. The video was fun to watch with shanks and Dotun but a real lesson was learnt. Money can’t buy happiness, you can be happy when you have money because you can afford and live any lifestyle you want to live, but the main fact is your surrounding and the love around you. In Tayo’s part he met people, made friends was able to get free food and a beer with people he met, those people didn’t think about their losses or what they would gain but because they are just grateful to God for be able to see that day and even being able to work is an happiness for them. A lot of people wait for when their rich to be happy but those times they were using it to wait to be rich they could have also led happy lives, made memories from everything around them. There’s a lot to say. I really enjoyed watching this video.

Living in those slums is NOT HAPPINESS AT ALL. It so miserable. I went to one of the biggest slums in Kenya ''KIBERA'' while making a small uni research...and the testimonies I got from all people I interviewed were full of immense sadness and even though, I wasn't rich, I started appreciating the little good - life was offering me. I believe that One day is not enough to taste the joy or agony of everyday life. ''A person on a sickbed cannot cry everyday, they learn to accept the realm of affliction''. coz the tendency of humanity is accepting fate and get hotter than the hot road. Therefore, everyone learns how to swim if the bridge is the stream...

Food, water, and shelter may not necessarily afford you happiness either but you need it to survive. You may not need money to create beautiful meaningful moments, but you need money for medical bills, fund passion projects like this one that will create more beauty in the world. 🙏🏽

That's exactly how people go from rich to poor the way they are living and the mindset those 2 men have. In fact 70% of of people who win big on the lottery end up exactly as poor as they were before they won it. Money certainly can't buy happiness nor the wisdom to keep that money. Money can make you very comfortable but can't buy you happiness.

Mr Tayo. It’s interesting that you are just learning this. I’m a Nigerian living in the U.K. I make 7 figures and that is salary not hustle here in the U.K. But left it to start a charity. The 12 years that I ran the charity were the best 12 years of my life. Money is a tool. Happiness is a state of mind. Now depending on where someone is philosophically - money can be able to buy them many things that they might feel will make them happy. For a barren woman, money cannot buy her children. For a blind man, money cannot buy him eyes. A poor man will feel money can buy him everything. I hear of young boys doing money rituals in for that reason. At the philosophical level that I’m at. I feel that true happiness will be reached if I’m able to have the type of impact that I envision while I’m still in the world. For you I’m guessing that hitting that 1million subscribers will make you happy. In life we all have different types of visions and goals. I believe achieving and exceeding those milestones Is what truly makes people happy - wherever they be physical or spiritual goals. Blessings.

For a barren woman, poverty can't buy her children either. In short these days sef it can even be aruged that with money you can utilise IVF and other scientific interventions to produce an offspring. The truth is Yes, money cannot buy happiness but poverty cannot buy you anything. So why not just have the money and be unhappy? Worse case scenario, you live a comfortable life. Whether we like it or not, money is very important to our wellbeing as human beings so pls let's stop all these poverty crap and stop downplaying the value and importance of money.
@m77ast

@@DCMarvelTrailers Nobody is saying money is not important. What they are saying is money does not buy happiness. The issue here is that in most peoples minds - money has taken the place of God. From when they wake up till when they go to bed they are chasing money. Take God away from them they are fine. Take money away from them they are depressed. One of the best things I did in my life and perhaps you are able to learn from this is that I have up my 7 figure job to start a charity. I felt that my life is best spent helping other people than just making money money money. Some people will say it was a calling. For the 12 years that I ran the charity, I had the least amount of money but I was at my happiest. This is a personal experience. What I realised is whether I have all the money or no money at all, my joy, happiness, sense of self is not affected at all. All of a sudden fear is gone. Do you know what a human who has no fear can do? He can change the world. For me What I have come to realise is that a man who walks with God needs nothing. God one way or another supplies all he needs. There is so much that I can say on this subject because I have personally gone through it. But for now we can leave it there. Blessings.

But if I were in Shank's shoes, the thought of leaving all this luxury behind would leave a lingering sadness. So long story short, true happiness comes from appreciating all that your life represents at the moment while looking forward to even better days. Well done once again Oga Tayo, I really enjoyed this.

I think money can buy a lot of fun, but Tayo proved that you can still be happy even without money if you actually try to be happy. SOME people who have no money spend so much time just being sad because they don’t have money, instead of making the best of their situation. I can be very happy spending time with family that I don’t see often. It doesn’t take a lot of money to spend time with people you love or making new friends. That was a fun and thought provoking video.

Happiness is a being not a place. There are people in both locations you featured who are truly happy and there are some others still in both locations who aren’t. We must seek to enjoy every aspect of our lives wherever we find ourselves. Thank you for the beautiful video. ❤

I love to see the over exaggerated goofiness that your family has 🥰🙏🏽. Continue creating memories while sharing love and everyone involved will retain the wisdom that money doesn’t buy happiness.

Love this videooooooo💯❤️ It deserves more views And I actually believe money can’t buy happiness No matter what others would say After all the excitement dies down and everyone leaves you alone Then the balance on happiness and loneliness would be more clear and then this question would get the only answer needed. Loved watching it 💯💯💯💯 Thank you Tayo🥰😌

I would say both parties were happy not necessarily because of money but because they were people to share beautiful memories with, money without loved ones means nothing, I don't agree with not striving to be successful, but don't ever do it at the expense of those who truly love you, because your success means nothing without them.

Money can buy you happiness that is why people work so hard throughout the year to go on vacation and have new experiences. I love Nigeria from Kenya and I want to experience life in Nigeria.
