Surprised they even let Connor try wakeboarding in such choppy conditions with only a jet ski and not a real ski boat. No wonder he struggled so much! Despite the shit conditions, he actually did pretty well for a first time. I hope he gets the chance to try it again with a proper setup, wakeboarding and wakesurfing are so much fun.

A big reason why beach culture and tropical paradise is became so popular in America in the 1950s and 1960s (think surfer movies and surf rock music) was because of soldiers who spent their time in the army station occupying Okinawa in the 1940s after the war It also contributed heavily to people moving to Hawaii and it becoming the last American state in 1959

Watching the water sports takes me back. We had a boat when I was growing up and we spent nearly every weekend through the summer out on the lake and many evenings through the week. My dad would get home from work and decide lets head out to the lake for an hour or two to get some skiing or tubing in. I learned to water ski and wakeboard at 9 and was driving the boat by 10. but ya it can be tough to get used to wakeboarding it took me a long time to get to the point where I could stay up for more than a minute. Also wiping out on the water can really hurt sometimes. If you are going at even a decent speed and get thrown from a tube or eat it while skiing it is like crashing into concrete.

My girlfriend and I went to Okinawa, I think heart rock has its charm when the tide is higher and it’s at sunset. I think the magic was lost with the grey sky’s, low tide making it look like a T-bone steak, and many people - we were fortunate enough to not have as many people crowding the beach
