If you're gonna go Iron Shortage, Iron Worms is probably a must, so you can get as much iron as possible per vein. Probably also Drillshaft, Drillbert, or Suit Blaster, so you can outsource mining instead of wasting resources on drill strength.

8:10 That is The Orifice. It works as a non-movable teleporter that only takes resources instead of you, which makes it a welcome addition since they nerfed the regular teleporter to not take resources anymore. It doesn’t have any upgrades yet, nor is it likely to, since it’s caveborn, like the entombed squiddy boy.

The normal teleporter does take resources with a supplement. Which then does you and resources, and it's faster and longer range than before.

Iron shortage with either iron worms or resource converter, the converter will turn 1 iron into 10 with an upgrade so it'll be perfect

I think Iron Shortage with the resource converter, suit blaster, and artillery dome would be interesting. The suit blaster because it costs less iron to fully upgrade than drill strength and iirc the resource converter would let you turn water or cobalt into iron (?)...and the artillery dome is my favorite.

If you do resource shortage you might need the converter just to insure you have enough iron for upgrading

Edit2: I put this at the top for visibility. The little critter that peeks out of the iron worms is one of the actual iron worms. The thing you pick up from the dome is a little robotic habitat filled with a colony of worms. It anchors itself to an iron deposit before releasing the worms. Edit: Oof, that's a bad starting loadout for this challenge. Laser is the second worst weapon for this challenge after sword, missile launcher is never really great to start with because it takes a bunch of upgrades before it's actually useful, and while I can see the appeal of having the shield's invulnerability ability, you're probably better off getting resources faster with the drone bay, plus the combat drones do a fantastic job of taking out the smaller flying enemies before they can shoot when they have double damage. Also worth noting, for the challenge mode guild requests, you want to put your earliest iron into some weapon upgrades, at the very least get rotation speed (reticle speed for the tesla dome) before the first wave. Man, high risk was one of the easier ones for me. It only took me one try to do the challenge mode, even. I used the artillery dome (with double machine gun and quad mortar) with iron worms (fast worms) and the drone bay (quick drones). Rush to the rotation upgrades for the weapon and max out the machine gun early. It helps to get the spire, too. By the way, except for on the challenge where iron is rare, you're better off going with the fast worms. They already guarantee 3 iron per tile while mining manually gives you between 1 and 3, so you'll still end up with a couple hundred spare iron by the end of the run and you'll get that iron much faster.

Personally, I like the overcharge, but I don't think I use it as Intended. I'll leave battle mode when the shield is low, and yes the overcharge to refill the shield.

The game has auto repair now. So the triangles are consumed automatically when you run out of health. You dont need to manually do it.
