As a speech pathologist in Australia who has been supporting people with swallowing difficulties for 30 years, I am so happy for you. I really appreciate you highlighting the impact that limitations in eating and drinking can have on quality of life, and participation in life roles. Many people take eating, drinking, and communication for granted. It is a privilege to support people with swallowing and communication needs. Fingers crossed this procedure is the one that sticks. So happy to hear you burping!!

This year I got officially diagnosed with ADHD & Autism and was able to get prescribed Vyvanse, for the first time in more than 10 years i finally woke up full of energy and able to actually focus on my tasks… i can relate to that relief to the point of sobbing even though others wouldn’t understand how badly the lack of energy and motivation was, i was actually able to go out and garden with my family ALL DAY and not feel exhausted and depressed after 2 hours… i love hearing people getting help and feel that relief for the first time in a long time cause maaaan i FEEL it!! Congratulations on burping!!

I know many want to fight for their rights. But I always like to remind people that having a Plan B is always good, in case of emergency (and I mean Plan B in every sense of the meaning, regardless of how you identify or who you love). It can take months to be approved for visas, and many need proof of year+ long relationships (Family Class, Conjugal visa for example) or you need to have a job or schooling lined up first, housing, etc. but worth reminding people that seeking asylum/refuge will be an option, it's not something many think about needing to do themselves and can be forgotten. Even when North America has been getting Ukranian refugees, we truly don't think it will happen to us, that we will need to flee. And I hope we have all been wrong, I truly do, cause being wrong won't hurt people... but if P2025/A45 and everything that seems so fictional comes to fruition. No God will save them, but you can have your Plan B.

As an American I don't mind political comments from anyone as long as they are correct, sympathetic, or constructive. Had to make a separate comment about the US election. I'm an American now living in Portugal. I retired and left the US 4 years ago, even though Biden was the President elect. I was seeing how INSANE the US was getting with the divisive politics, the shootings and tRumpers driving through our neighborhood in noisy trucks with huge tRump flags flying from the back of the truck beds. They were intimidating. I could just feel it getting worse. I also wanted to live in Europe just to have a wholly new life experience before I kick the bucket - as well as having affordable health care. There were many other reasons as well and since I was a childless, cat lady, it made it easier to leave the country. I DID take my 2 cats with me (of course!!) and one of them is laying on me right now as I struggle to reach the keyboard to type this! I DID vote for Harris / Walz and KNEW the election was going to be *close. I was not surprised that tRump won - I was disgusted. I truly feel for all the black and brown people, immigrants, women and of course, people from the LGBTQIA group. I am worried for the world because of this wanna be dictator/fascist as president elect. I'm worried for my Social Security. I'm worried for all the people in vulnerable groups - which is everyone except for straight, white, christian males. I truly fear what the next 4 years will bring, but I am determined to enjoy every day and enjoy my new friends in Portugal and enjoy my furry companions. ❤ 🐈🐈‍⬛ All the best to everyone. Stay safe! ❤

And i highly doubt he can just stop lgbtq marriage and rights… that’s something everyone needs to approve of, not him. He seems to be trying to fix your gun problem. I remember the staff putting a cold towel on my head before I was out, and then I woke up in a wheel chair in the lobby 😂 I remember telling my mom “I feel so normal!” over and over agin. Wild experience but I’m alive! 😅

I'm so glad you’ve found something that actually works and brings you relief! I had the opposite problem as you. Constant burping, sickly burps through my mouth and nose, and constantly regurgitating food and drinks. After a trip to the er after burning my esophagus to a crisp, I finally found a med that works. It's so sad and disheartening that your condition isn't recognized, and you had to pay for everything out of pocket. It's sad that we live in a world where we have to spend thousands just to find relief.

I'm so happy that you've had so much relief from your condition and that you're able to get out and do so much comfortably now. Unfortunately people with chronic illness in our society are so often not seen, and our struggles are just not understood when we're suffering away at home invisibly. People who are healthy don't know what they have! Please feel free to record some videos of you getting out and doing things. I'll happily come along virtually with you. ❤

Thank you so much for posting your experience of this odd condition. I’ve had this all my life and only recently found out it has a name and isn’t just a funny quirk of my body. I’m finally, at the age of 51, going to speak to my GP about getting some help. X

I recently started getting botox for chronic daily migraines that I've had for over half my life. It has been life changing. And it's so weird because, you have that relief, but you still remember and some times have those bad moments or days. Last month I only had a weeks worth of headaches or migraines... I haven't had that since before grade 7. I get 35 needles across my scalp every 3 months, it sucks to get it done, but it is so worth it. I'm so happy for you Lauren, and I similarily know how you feel. I hope this keeps working for you!!!

I’m so happy for you!! I can never know exactly how you feel but as someone with chronic pain I do know what it’s like to be unable to go out and do things all day. I get so tired and in pain after just a tiny amount of time, even just a shower can take it out of me most days. I’m hoping and praying that this treatment is what does it for you and keeps working, and that I can get my own health sorted soon as well. It gives me a lot of hope to hear that you can do things during your day without pain and exhaustion.

I'm SO happy for you, Lauren!! 🥺 It kind of breaks my heart that you were so terrified of going under, but I mean, I DO get the fear - buuuut, there are SO many other things you do everyday in life that are WAY more dangerous - like driving to the hospital. It is INCREDIBLY rare to have any serious side effect or die from general anesthesia. I've been under MANY times and I'm way more afraid of the pain I will experience after from the surgery and the lack of pain control - like when I got my hip replaced a year ago, I SUFFERED with the pain from that for about 2 weeks with only tramadol (not strong enough!). Anyway, I truly hope this is IT for you and you don't need to have it done again - but IF you do, hopefully, you won't be as terrified about being put under general anesthesia. Wishing the BEST for you!! ❤‍🩹

Yooooo, I almost never hear anyone else mention a phobia of vomiting. I was a very sickly child, and anytime I had a stomach bug, I would projectile vomit. It hurt so bad and I developed such an intense fear of throwing up that I actually trained my body not to vomit. Which was great until a couple years ago when I got the first stomach bug of my adult life at the same time I became constipated for the first time ever, and I had to shove my fingers down my throat. :( I'm glad you're doing better, I'm proud of you for facing your fears around surgery and hospitals, and I hope you never have to ever again. And to all the people in the USA, I truly hope you stay safe. I'm not a religious person, but I might actually pray for you all, and I'm going to look into more legitimate ways I can provide help to you all in the coming storm.

I’m so happy you’re doing better!! I can totally relate to what you called “Botox breath”. Personally I think it’s an anxiety thing, where for some reason my lungs REFUSE to take a full breath of air, like my chest is literally being constricted. It happened a lot more when I was younger, when I was in band / playing flute, which was. Not fun.

I also have an anxiety disorder and number one trigger is needles and fainting from needles/blood. I feel you so hard on this. Even going into any doctor’s office and even if I know there’s no needle involved my heart rate will be 90 or above no matter what. You are so brave, I’m so proud of you (even if we don’t know each other) and I hope you feel proud of yourself ❤

Girl ur not alone, my sis has had the same issues her whole life and after a surgery it became worse. But people would always laugh it off because people don’t understand it and think that it’s not a real problem So I just wanted to send over some support from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 ☺️ I myself have health issues that aren’t really visual so they never take me seriously, so there definitely are people that can sympathize with it. Hope you feel better soon ❤

I'm so happy that you're doing so well!! 😍❤️💕 Also thank you for caring about us Americans right now. We are in shock & in fear for our bodily autonomy. Also our families are in shambles because we no longer can accept intolerants from our family members. I'm not going to my families thanksgiving & I don't know if I can even do my wedding now since my dad & mom voted against my bodily autonomy as a woman. You can't vote for people who could hurt or kill me then have us act like everything is fine.
