Depends on user to user. I used to have an iPad Pro 10.5 inch, but I redirected most of my work from that to a new MacBook Air M1 instead. Having a new MacBook changed my productivity system, which made my aging iPad Pro be in a tough spot. I ended up replacing it with the iPad mini 6, and the only productivity thing I do on it is pdf annotations. Other than that, ever since I got my MacBook for work and school, I've been using my iPad mini for consumption and games. It's a good decision for me to make the switch from a bigger tablet to a smaller one, and the iPad mini fits in my small crossbody bag and even my pockets. The only issue I have with the iPad mini is the short battery life. Otherwise, it's a perfect successor to my iPad Pro, and it's so hard to go back to an average sized iPad.

I love the iPad Mini 7. $400 at Costco (now back up in price, but on sale at Amazon). This has some notable upgrades to Mini 6, when you do some digging. Much as I wanted it on the Mini, going from a Pro Max phone with Promotion 120 Hz to the 60 Hz is not bothersome. WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 make a noticeable difference to me and I’m glad Apple finally doubled the starting storage to 128GB. 👍🏻

i think Apple should make the Mini compatible with their regular iPad keyboard through the use of some kind of 'adapter'; like a frame that holds the Mini to make it close at the same size as the full size keyboard attachment. and maybe do something with the extra space, like make it an extra external battery to prolong power life.

I've done the same this year. From an iPad Pro 11" to the iPad Mini 7. I won't be adding much, if any pro applications to it, because I also upgraded a 10-year-old MacBook Pro (still good) to the latest with the M4 Pro chip, and here yes focusing all my pro applications. The Mini, with the latest Apple Pencil Pro, stay next to me on my desk, replacing paper note pads, post it notes, pens, pencils, highlighters, ... The weight of the iPad Magic keyboard with the iPad Pro was too much + carrying the laptop as well, bags for both, and having to unpack them through airports security . I liked your mini keyboard, but I might skip it, trying to keep it simple, and focus on making more use of it as a tablet. For me an iPad will never replace a Mac, and vice versa. I've used the standard (11-inch-ish) sized iPads since Gen 1 and I recently traded in my iPad Air 4 for the mini 17Pro. I found the iPad Air with the magic Keyboard just too big and heavy to lug around. I bought a used iPad Mini 4 just to test out the size and loved it, so I waited for the upgrade to the Mini 17Pro. For my use case it's the best value. Great for books, magazines (Apple News), movies, notes and even writing with a full sized bluetooth keyboard. (I use the same model keyboard as I do with my Mac so the touch is familiar). I actually use the camera on iPad and for some reason there is no flash on the iPad Air but there is on the mini. So that's a bonus. My only complaint is this: this shold be an iPhone Ultra and not an iPad Mini. Put the Phone and Apple Watch apps on this device and I wouldn't need an iPhone. I use the Apple Watch for my phone and music player and the iPad for everything else.

The moment you open the notes app to exemplify the use of apple pencil, that instantly tells me: 1- you are not an artist 2- you are using this as a consumption media device (and there is nothing wrong with it, just saying) 3- your work is based on docs and reviews and not creating and exploring the true potential of the apple pencil (Procreate, for instance, is magical on the Pro and could never be useful on the mini. Again, nothing wrong with it, just the facts) great video, keep it up!

I took mine back. Jelly scrolling in portrait mode and far too much motion blur on all Apple Store samples. This was clearly visible to me on this old 60hz display. Apps and font sizes too small. The speakers and mics are way inferior than an Air M2 or pro. It’s overpriced compared to Air M2, especially with cellular. Just connect with an iPhone! The screen is too small to use professionally with pencil and an expensive duo even with education discounts. 11 in iPad is min. Mini is good as an overpriced colour Kindle. An M4 11 in 256gb is a much better long term value proposition and doubles as a second screen to partner with aMacBook Pro. Mini is really for pilots, waiting staff and indulgent parents for under 11s to read and play games on - niche product. If it had pro motion, a better screen, smaller bezels and if possible landscape camera for videos, I’d consider one. An iPhone pro Max in landscape is nearly as big for viewing videos and film and far, far brighter. Admittedly no pencil but iPad Pros are for that. I was working overseas recently and only took an iPad Pro 11 with keyboard, pencil and my iPhone as I needed to travel very light (under seat bag for flight, then lots of trains and buses). It did everything I needed professionally from writing, emails, viewing materials and it was great for editing photos and videos taken on 15 pro max (great camera on that). Not for me…in a professional setting anyway.
