WHAT AN INCREDIBLE COURSE!! Today I take on the greatest public golf course in the whole of the United States - The Park! I've been lucky to play a lot of different golf courses over the years, and The Park in West Palm, may be my favourite to date...so let's go low!

Courses like this are amazing for middle to high handicap player to learn on. Playing courses out here in CA and if you miss the fairway by 10 yards the ball's simply gone. It's in a canyon or off a cliff. So you don't hit the longer clubs - it's just not worth the risk unless you're sure you can be accurate with them, which obviously limits your ability to score well but ALSO limits your ability to practice. Courses like this are more forgiving of wayward shots and are fantastic.

Trout is the caddy the pro shop sends out with scratch golfers to save them a half dozen shots a round. Worked with such men as a teen caddy. While I quit by the age of 16, men like Trout made it a vocation. Hope you tipped him well!

Some day when you are traveling the States, I recommend you check out Northern Michigan golf courses. Some of the finest public golf in the country. Courses such as Arcadia Bluffs and The Belvedere routinely rank in the top 100.

it seemed that you were 1/2+ club short on quite a few 'good feeling' approach or par 3 tee shots.. low elevation creates shorter carry than expected. not sure what elevation you are at when home but it happens that I was in Myrtle Beach last week on/near the ocean (ZERO FEET elevation) and experienced the same thing. normally I am 800' or more Western NY and the ball carries much further. felt weak hitting into greens a club or two longer than normal!

I understand the point of members only in the US but also dont like it. Im pretty serious about my game and would love to play at fantastic courses but am locked out cause i cant pay the 5K they want. I also understand the membership gets you more than course access and it gets you the ammenities as well but come on, i just want to play a round.

Don't let the media make it sound like everything is private here. Example: in Tucson, AZ there are 15 courses ($25 to $75 with cart) within 35 minutes from my home 2 are private. Those 2 private courses can still be played by anyone we just pay higher greens fee ($90). Add an hour and a half and the number goes up to over 25 courses. Come visit.🙂

As of 2020: 16,100 courses in the U.S. Of that total, 75 percent are open to the public. That leaves approximately 4,025 courses labeled as private. And the private ones you can play with a member. Membership at a lot of private courses are not that ridiculously expensive either.

"BEST PUBLIC GOLF COURSE in the USA!" is quite a statement... you need to play Torrey Pines, Bethpage Black, Pebble Beach, Erin Hills, Whistling Straits, Bandon Dunes, Pinehurst... all public courses and PGA venues... and there are SO many more that are as good or better.

A golf buddy of mine played pebble. He hired a buggy. His wife went along to take pictures. The other 3 people in his group has all hired caddies. Even so, they initially wanted to charge him double the buggy rate for his wife!

It’s a nightmare you have three foursomes playing on every hole all day long. When you’re going to tee off, there is a foursome in the fairway and a foursome on the green on every hole. It makes it way less enjoyable

The design makes it look like all one hole. I thought it was pretty clear? Finch showed the score card showing the lay-out of the holes. Then as they played he mentioned how easy it would be to get lost w/out a caddy due to that.

the best US public golf course is in Vermont. Green Mountain National. Fairways are 20 yards wide and greens are under 1000 square feet-most of them under 500 sq feet.
