I think the problem with online reviews is that people who have bad experiences tend to rate businesses more frequently than people who have had good experiences.

I agree. Those with bad experiences use the rating system to vent their frustrations. Those with good experiences just move on and eventually return to the establishment for more good service/food.

Very true and when someone new wants to check out the place, all they see is the negative reviews. Plus, most of those guest don’t even speak with a manager to make it better or not satisfied with any apology or comps.

The issue is that most of the bad reviews are exaggerated in that they're really closer to a 2 or 2.5 star review but they do 1 star out of spite. The reviews that I personally trust the most are the 3-4 star reviews as well as the lack of 1-2 star reviews.

Hi-ration cake liquid is shortening like Crisco. It makes the cake more temperature stable. It helps icing hold more air after whipping and it helps keep cakes moist giving them a finer smoother texture.

Great looking wings, it's been a long time since I've had Hooter-Wings. I am a believer that there is no such thing as a bad pizza... just pizza that is 'less-good'. I've never had a pizza where I would have rather eaten the box 🍕🍕🍕... that's just ridiculous. I apply the same theory to cakes! Happy to hear the cake slice was decent. I will bring my own fork 😁😁😁 - I may have to test one out next week while in LV. Great video as always!

I see the 1 star that were years ago. I would go with the most recent as the bad reviews from years or months might changed. I did visit the taco shop in Fremont and its ok. For the same price I would go to Taco El Gordo for the more value. Hoping Jacob would do the same thing.

Glad you had a nice time at Hooters. I live in the Los Angeles area there 12 Hooters here. I haven't there food for over 10 years. But then their wasn't very good. It was all about the cute women. Maybe they finally got message. There 12 locations went down to 2 and never recovered. I did see in the background of your video there is a Tilted Kilt restaurant. That is similar to Hooters. There food is much better..

When it comes to restaurant reviews, I don't read anything less than 5 stars. It seems at 3 and below are the people that was not expecting it to cost that much and was upset that they had to pay as much as they did. It reminds me of the people that come to Las Vegas, spend too much and don't have the gas money to get home so they complain about the hotel room hoping that gets discounted to make traveling money. P.S. I see the Buddy's Cake Machine that Norma was standing to everyday and can confirm they stock the machine regularly and Norma could have asked for a fork from the Tilted Kilt next door.

I better try those tacos on Fremont than tacos El Gordo on the strip, last time I went to tacos El Gordo they were crowded, the tacos were expensive and bad and the employees and customers were in a bad mood that I ended up with a huge panic attack. 🫨🫨

I looked up the "high ratio cake liquid". It's a liquid shortening that is used in cakes that have a higher sugar to flour ratio, to produce a moist and tender crumb in the cake. It also produces a silky batter and does well going from shelf to freezer and back again. It is also an emulsifier so it makes the batter come together more quickly, giving high yield bakeries time to make more product. Just in case anyone wanted to know but didn't want to look it up!

Went to the taco place in Fremont last week and the birra ramen and tacos combo was pretty darn good. My local buddy said the reputation of that place wasn't good but we went, we ate, we conquered and enjoyed.

It’s crazy that back in the day it was the Hooter’s Hotel and Casino. It was kind of a nice place to hang out but started to deteriorate as the years passed. Then OYO purchased the property.

You are one brave person to go to one star reviewed places but it just goes to show you can't always trust one star reviews. I've been to five star reviewed restaurants and had a bad experience too. I think the "Welcome to Hooters" sign at Oyo was the old sign when it was the Hooters Hotel & Casino. The Cake Boss vending machine. I always buy a slice of cake at that machine my first day in Las Vegas. Eat a little daily. I have a sweet tooth and this keeps me from buying expensive desserts daily knowing I already have a dessert waiting in the room. The trick is to let it thaw out at least 30 minutes (not the 15 as suggested by the machine). The rainbow cake is OK (vanilla cake) but my favs are the chocolate or red velvet. Thanks for taking one (a bunch) for the team Norma.

The last thing I would do when I’m in Vegas is by to go to cake vending machine to get my dessert. There are so many good dessert places around Vegas. I would not step foot in Oyo let alone eat at Hooters. The hotel has bad reviews. Usually go for a slightly Higher level of eating establishment since I’m in Vegas. It doesn’t have to be sit down can be a grab and go. I really do enjoy the food courts that the resorts have been having I like the many different kinds and ethnic food, and you can pick one thing from one place and get something else different from different place.❤ Thank you Norma

After working many service industry jobs over the decades, I will never take anyone's reviews to heart, people all are different, are in different moods, different back stories, so you will always get an angry customer or 2 every day, its just the nature of the beast, and now w content and social media, its easier for depressed people to make themselves feel better after posting nasty comments on things. Always try something out for yourself first before judging someone or something.

Boy, you sure left Hooters with a lot of chicken. It must not have been good. Pizza in Las Vegas, at least when I lived there, mostly wasn't good. Pizza at O'Shea's was very bad. Downtown now. My wife liked Lily Langtree's at The Golden Nugget. Main Street Station had the best buffett when I lived in Las Vegas. Their coffee shop was pretty good too. Not a fan of Mexican food. Too spicy for the most part. When I lived in Las Vegas you could walk from casino to casino drinking beer or wine or even mixed drinks.

Went to many Hooters around the country including the first Hooters in Clearwater FL. Never had a bad experience. I eat less pizza out. Pretty much disappointed when I do. Of course I lived in NYC which had some of the best pizza in the world in the old Italian neighborhoods. Cake from a machine...well probably not for me. They have Krispy Kreme in Vegas after all. Whoa you can't drink on Fremont! I thought that was the idea with all the outdoor stuff. Weird...for Vegas. Anyway those tacos not so great. Find a family run taco place. We used to go to one on Sahara off the strip. Best taco experience ever.

I work in a hardware store in Houston, Texas. We get a LOT of Yelp reviews as a mom & pop shop that's been in the same neighborhood since the 1950's. Having been in a few of the complaints on Yelp reviews, I can honestly say that the situations the reviewers posted are NOT exactly accurate. In nearly EVERY case the reviewer was an entitled ass that simply didn't get 5 star service and product. Yelp is a forum for entitled haters.

Been to Vegas 7-10x the past 3 years for 3-4 days each stay. I love going around trying different places / restaurants. I would check reviews every time and follow recommendations at times. I think any place could receive bad reviews any day. Things could happen on that instant or maybe just coincidence that day. I would doubt one or two bad reviews but when there is a trend in their bad reviews it usually is a red flag. So far i have not been to a place that deserves 1 star, thanks to Norma and other youtuber recommendations. Btw one place i tend to come back to every time i am in Vegas is Oyster bar in Palace station. Long wait but worth it every time.

Worst for me was Sugar Factory. I had a good experience in January 2023. Went again in December 2023 and it was horrible. I go for the crazy food and I ordered the burger that they top with the cheese sauce and one of the crazy milkshakes. It took 20 minutes to get someone to order with. Placed my order and it took 45 minutes for my milkshake to come out (which was half filled.. what a rip) and then 20 minutes after that I got my burger which was raw. I asked for well done. It took another 10 minutes to be able to find someone to get a new burger from. It finally came out. Never got a refill on my water. I was one of the first tables that day when they opened so it wasn't like they were slammed. It was one of the worst meals I'd ever had. I used to be a server so I'm usually a super easy customer and can over look a lot but wow.. that was the worst service and worst food I'd ever had. I won't go back. Which is too bad their hot Cheetos burger is pretty good.

It’s all about expectations. Hoovers you go for the wings and not the quality of the restaurant. Cake boss cake-mine was pretty flavorless but not the worst cake I’ve ever had. Pizza-if it’s not a sit down restaurant just don’t expect it to be amazing pizza and if it is great then all the more exciting!

No bottles/cans on Fremont Street Experience ordinance is definitely enforced these days as a precaution; especially now that there are middle east conflict protest occurring across the country. It's good to see plenty of police/security are on hand during the busiest time of the evening. Ever tried Taco Y Taco? The best quesadillas in the valley 😋🍷 Cheers.

Nice gotcha on thumbnail. You'd eat anything and like it. Your food knowledge limited. Icing is not whip cream. Btw any1 can have a bad experience an 1 star for whatever reason. Bottom line I don't look at one or five star reviews don't really trust either.

You must take online reviews with a grain of salt. I prefer reviews light on opinion and heavier on objective fact. That said, I'll be there is a couple weeks and probably stay away from some of these.

The number of stars itself doesn't tell the story; you gotta read them. If the 1-stars are because the place is disgusting and infested, or something like the raw chicken review she highlighted, then yeah I'm more likely to skip it. If the 1-stars are just somebody mad about service issues or something then I'll give it a shot.
