The free face thing works ive done it multiple times before its also how your favourite youtubers get those really epic looking cursors, basically what happens is your replacing the original roblox smile face which means that if you equip the smile face then change the textures as luxy showed in the video you will be able to get any face for free but anybody else in the server who doesnt have the same texture pack ( basically anybody else on a diffrent device ) cannot see your custom face and will just see the default smile.
