About 20 years ago I met a British guy at a bar, he was a snooker pool player, and I was an 8 and 9 ball pool player. I played him a few games and taught him 8 and 9 ball, then we were friends. He came to America from Sheffield England to work for one summer, then he met a sexy blonde and married her, and he liked America so much he stayed here. And he is still in America today. So it is not unusual for people to come to America for a short time, then move here and stay here the rest of their lives.

I lived in the US for a few years, got a Green Card, then became a Citizen in the process made a load of amazing friends, Americans are on the whole open, welcoming and have your back. Your accents really help of course, being a Brit in the US is a bit like a tiny super power. I am back in the UK now and pretty settled but who knows where I will end up. Your comment about it looking like a movie set was funny, Americans driving through any of the nicer parts of England would say exactly the same thing :-) The grass is always greener, but you should experience it for yourself of course, i know a good US Immigration firm in London if you need a referral, as a business owner and entrepreneur you would have a chance.

I agree, as an American who would love to visit England, I will probably cry when I see your picturesque classic towns. I’m just a little worried that you might hate Americans, which is intimidating.

He’s in a part of Texas that is flatter with more shrubbery. Texas is larger than Germany and is diverse in landscape. That said, as someone who used to live in the PNW I wholeheartedly agree that it’s worth traveling and exploring. I’ve tramped across Oregon Washington Alberta and British Columbia. Next is Alaska. California is my favorite though, it’s a shame it’s so prohibitively expensive

My uncle and aunt live in the US, I’ve visited a few times. Definitely felt safer in the uk, maybe because I live in the country. The fact that there’s 1.2 civilian owned guns for every person living in America is a crazy stat to me. We have some knife crime in the uk and the occasional armed robbery, but if there’s a road rage incident or disagreement I don’t have to worry about someone pulling out a gun and shooting me.

We moved to the US when I was 12, through my dad's work transfer. If I can be grateful to my parents for one thing, it's that they brought the family here, because from what I hear there is an 11 year waiting list for an immigration visa. The US issues a million immigration visas a year but 600,000 are to Latin American countries.
