You aren’t tripping! It is blending together the Marilyn/JFK storyline with JFK and Jackie O. I think it’s about wanting to be both of those women in one to someone- a woman who captivates with the allure of Marilyn but also can be the life partner that he faces the world with. Her lyrics can be difficult to interpret but I think you got it with the “tell me I’m your National Anthem” - it’s like tell me I’m your everything. She is super artistic and frequently displays the duality of situations in her songs- like in this song, the appeal of and infatuation with money, power, success but then also the dark sides of those forces and their impacts on relationships.

In the video A$AP is JFK and Lana is both Marilyn and Jackie Kennedy(Marilyn was infamously rumored to be JFK’s mistress which was only spurred on when she sang to him happy birthday Mr. President) the speech at the end of the song was Jackie’s letter to John after he was assassinated. Her hair is inspired by Priscilla Presley, Elvis’ wife.(Lana looks a lot like her you should look us up!) Saigon was the capital of South Vietnam. JFK almost went war with South Vietnam so that the Queen of Saigon line.

Something about lana she’s isn’t really pop, she has a real unique voice, she can sing very low but also got so many vocal range. Also her style was described as baroque pop, alternative. If you wanna here some of her vocal range you need to react to « off to the races » from the same album of national anthem or « shades of cool » from another one call Ultraviolence, thanks man

Lana portrays marilyn monroe at the start and she portrays jackie kennedy in the rest, while asap plays jfk. haha lana and asap were never dating but asap admitted he had a crush on her, they have g chemistry. They have an unreleased song called ridin u should listen to.:) in this song lana talks ab the american dream and the toxic sides to america, along w comparing her relationship to patriotism.
