Im sure you're good ❤. It's a time and season for everything... maybe this is your time to rest, not be so hard on yourself? I was in this space from Feb-Apr and it wasn't fun if I'm honest. I gradually came out of my slump. Some days I knocked out all my goals, some days I just knocked out one goal. My best varies from day to day. Some days my best is just getting out the bed. Think of it as an opportunity to not to be so hard on yourself, love yourself, and to take it one day, one moment at a time bc really that's all we have 😊 Especially us black women we will try to conquer the world in one day. Universe/God has a way of telling us to gone sat down somewhere. Much love to you EJ 🥰

I'm suffering from CRAD, Covid Related Anxiety Disorder. Yes I just made that up, (or at least I think I did) but I believe some of y'all have it too. Symptoms include many of the things EJ mentioned here. But also things like urge to fight when someone walks up on you in the store. (Me throwing these 'bows wouldn't be an issue if you were 6 feet away home skillet.) Or paranoia when the doorbell rings. (Whodahellisatmydoorunannounced) I'm not going to see. Let me check this ring camera... Can't risk letting Rona in. And my newest symptom, getting offended when someone in the neighborhood dares to be out for a walk at the same time as me and we cross paths on the sidewalk... (What is this a block party??? Sis, no. Let's just do 30 laps in the yard tomorrow lol!)

When there was no pandemic, stores were open during regular hours, theaters and restaurants were open and you were allowed to see your friends and family, and have gatherings, you could go to parks, and public pools. In essence there was more freedom, therefor more incentive to have free time. Your free time felt more precious and finite so you were motivated to fill it with as much as you could. With the pandemic, you are isolated whether you are buying groceries or are at home. There is the constant pressure of bad news, but there is no outside way to cope with it - Like, you can't go out with your friends for some drinks. What you're experiencing is symptoms of depression and it will take a real mental effort to get even the simple things done. I still work during this time, but with reduced hours. I will sometimes have 3 or 4 days off at a stretch and I am so exhausted physically and emotionally I don't feel like doing anything meaningful or productive when I am home. It's just recovery. But it's too much. I've been forcing myself to do at least one productive thing a day; It might be cleaning the kitchen. It might be doing laundry. It might be doing something for my neglected side hustle just to make sure I still have the skills. It doesn't have to be something big. And it might get a little better each day. But yeah it's going to take some effort that it might not have before. I just have to say you've helped me a lot, even with this video.

I think we should all give ourselves some credit. We've had to adjust to teleworking, home-schooling kids, grocery shopping with little on the shelves, using make shift masks to travel to 3 different stores hoping to find toilet paper all while dealing with a pandemic, civil unrest and complete uncertainty of what each day will bring. We've lost income, we've lost sleep, we've maybe even lost our faith in humanity. So if you can get up each day and muster the energy to cross one item off a to-do list you're awesome even if that 1 item is simply "make it thru this day". You're winning!

I've been thinking about this too. The thought I keep having is that we are just part of a very driven culture, where we are always off to what is next. We don't even celebrate an accomplishment, we just feel disappointed in ourselves for not completing it sooner. I think this quarantine environment has made some of us just say "oh I can slow down? PRAISE GOD!!!! I'm slowing alllllllllll the way down 🤣". That is definitely what has happened to me. I'm not a lazy person. I'm someone who has challenges with staying present and slowing down half the time so now I'm feeling "lazy" because for once I'm not running around like crazy. I went from one end of the spectrum to the other, and I fully expect after I have detoxed from my "you're doing to much" lifestyle that I will make my way back to the middle. Hopefully when the world turns back on I'll have some better boundaries and habits in place by then so I never feel the need to chill this hard again in the future. 🤣

You might be just drained. Getting inundated with constant doom and gloom eventually takes it toll. Life has shifted in a way that it'll never be the same again. @ejspeaks Grant yourself some grace. Here are some helpful tips. 1. You might be a Visionary. We tend to have many ideas and passions but lack follow through. People like us need to hire someone to do the tasks we do not like to do. 2. When you write your lists and goals, you also need to write down the steps for each one. So instead of saying shoot a video, write down the steps it takes for you to do it. Sometimes we give ourselves too many things to do because we underestimate how long it takes to get something done. Then we beat ourselves up for not getting it done. 3. We need to change our mindset and habits in order to become the person that can meet and sustain our goals. 4. We need to make the things we ought to do very easy to do. When something is easy to do, we are more likely to do it. I hope these tips help you or someone else.

I saw the exact quote you're talking about when I was on LinkedIn one day while doing some job searching and LEMME TELL YOU this idea is 100% GARBAGE We are all dealing with an UNPRECEDENTED amount of stress, anxiety, death, sickness, riots, unemployment, and more, and the idea that we should be hustling & grinding right now despite everything going on is tone-deaf and out of touch with reality. If ppl created stuff and built stuff and all that jazz during the pandemic & riots good for them - but that's not the norm for most and no one should feel ashamed if they're just trying to make it from day to day right now PERIODT!

Well, so much truth and revelation in this video! It’s funny how we answer ourselves when we are asking those intrusive questions. 1) There is pressure to create, however I have learned to be patient with myself. 2) I have learned to honor my body, my thoughts, and my soul. 3) I have learned to value the impact of one vs valuing “power in numbers.” 4) Celebrate your accomplishments and not to label anything small or large. Obedience is obedience. 5) Revisit errr thang you said and ask yourself “ am I a good steward of time?” If yes-- clap clap clap and carry on-- if no-- clap clap clap and carry on! 💯❤️ We can exchange energy again-- if need be!!!! 🙌🏼

Glad you made this post... and to see others relate...whew!. ..I thought it was just me. I'm a homemaker and since the pandemic, the kids schedules came to an abrupt🛑 stop, it jacked my routined schedule. I dunno what to do with myself. At first I was happy to catch a break, NOW it's like🙄🙁.

I am spending all of my life savings on art supplies! It has become an addiction. Finding out, to my dismay, that more toys do not make me paint better. Keep speaking, EJ, love it!👏😎🥰

I feel the same way, I know I am definitely depressed which in turn has turned off my creativity, all we can do is take one day at a time, give yourself credit even for the small stuff "getting out of bed" things will get better, don't lose the Faith!! Sending everyone positive vibes and praying you all be blessed tremendously this week!!

“You are not alone” in my MJ voice. I already had a business and I started another one during the pandemic and I still struggle. I have orders to create and I will curl up in my bed and do jigsaws on my tablet. I have been wfh then entire time but I took the summer off from college so to me I have a ton of time. I feel like I’m wasting it. I’m on the verge of starting a 3rd business but I don’t want to put on a mask and go to Michaels to get the supplies. I shut down at the thought of it. I have to constantly remind myself that the stereotype that all black women are Superwomen and can do all things and be all things at the same time with the weight of the world on our shoulders is trash. Being lazy, or resting your mind body and soul for an entire season is OKAY. Even God rested. Breaks are real, healthy, and needed. The pandemic is a trauma on everyone and don’t regret coping with it in a way that works for you

Ej you hit the nail on the head with this one! I’m in the same boat. I think it’s the effects of all the unknowns & the weight of all that this year has brought on. Haven’t been able to do much of anything for my small biz.

It’s very hard to find inspiration and structure yourself and your day, when you’re in your home that’s meant to be safe and relaxing. I struggle with this too, I think everyone is. Don’t get down on yourself.....just do the best you can! 😊 focus is hard to come by during this time.

I totally understand you. I'm going through the same thing right now and I can tell you that for me, it's like finally standing still after running a race for so long. You're not "sorry." You are legitimately going through something. I know I am.

3-4 months of free time but was it really free time? Most of us are spending this time trying not to get sick and take care of families and trying to figure out how to survive. Girl don't be hard on yourself, just take your time.

Sis...Or maybe you needed a break so you can be the best you you can be?!?! I think you’re doing JUST fine esp. since you said you were on medical leave and have a whole family at home. I know as a teacher while everyone was on break during this pandemic and quarantine and teachers were still working. So in my summer, I’m chillin, okay?! There are some things I need to do because I’ve decided I’m not returning to the classroom next year and I have a part time job currently. There are businesses I want to create and have started on. But I’m getting things done as I can. I’m not receiving this pressure from the internets because like you said they 👏🏾 don’t 👏🏾 know 👏🏾 me! They don’t know my story. Periodt! So do you sis!

We're all experiencing grief related to how life was before this GLOBAL PANDEMIC compounded by a lack of leadership that values profit over people. It's a lot to handle. I had a list of about 5 to-dos today and instead took a 4 hour nap. My strategy is to do one thing, even if that's making the bed but I didn't even do that today. I've drastically lowered my expectations of productivity and creativity of myself and that has helped me be more kind to me. There is definitely NOT anything wrong with you. Give yourself some grace.
