lillie pad I’m so sorry she is still battling cancer and her progress hasn’t been better. You are right God is bigger. I’m sending her and her loved ones and extra prayer🙏🏼 I hope she has been able to find support from people who are going through the same thing or from those who have conquered cancer that can offer encouragement as she goes through chemo. While I don’t have cancer I do have some health issues and I’ve found incredible online support. If she is up to it you might suggest she look on Facebook for breast cancer support groups. Maybe she isn’t interested, but sometimes it’s nice to talk to someone who understands what you are feeling. Sounds like you are great family support system for her💜

Not all crazing is to be didmissed as fake. It is a centuries old technique that potters achieve to create cracked ice, snowflake, tortoise, etc patterns. It is not meant to simulate age as much as the artist's skill in controlling the defect caused by the glaze. Downside is that cracks can harbor bacteria so pieces are not food safe. The beautiful plate used as an example by Sue mimicked the look and rather than being a fake was intended to be safe for food consumption. Crazing/crackling is a skilled technique not always a method to deceive. Collectors know the difference.

Kyle Carter I was editing it and like... wait, what did I say? But left it in. I’m probably going to regret it. It’s not marked on the bottom but I don’t think it’s French. The style just reminded me of a French piece I have in my kitchen, so I said it out loud.
@anorangeapeach21575 жыл бұрын
@@CrazyLampLady I collect the McCoy mixing bowls circa 1910-1930s. I know that I have bowls with a similar pattern and glaze color. So that's my guess. And Jocelyn, live with no regrets cause that pitcher would also fit into a french country home very well! ♡♡♡

That is called a crackle glaze, used in ceramics and pottery as a decorative finish, not mean to be fake anything. Newly made home-painted ceramic mugs can craze just from fluctuations of heat and cold (ie. cold mug with super hot liquid suddenly poured in), which doesn't happen too much with porcelain (except by age) because it is fired at higher temps, or at all with stoneware (unless by age) because of the type of high fire clay used. Crackle glazes are meant to be decorative. I have been using that type of glaze myself for many years. That pitcher is meant to be decorative and not to deceive anyone as to its age. You can tell it was a crackle glaze and then an acrylic stain was rubbed into the cracks to show off the finish. Actually, I love that pitcher. Cute!
@camille98925 жыл бұрын
So much fun vicariously thrifting with you. Btw... you might want to research Raku pottery. That pitcher you called 'fake crazing' was Raku. It's different from the fake crazing like on the platter Sue showed previously.

I am blown away by the older vintage items packing the shelves in your state. Just the glass items and figurine amounts is crazy to me. Georgia is so much different overflowing with new/used stuff. It just makes me wonder where the heck it all comes from? Are the Goodwills fewer and far between which would mean more people donate to a store?
