The US has a 68 Billion dollar trade deficit with Canada, a open undefended border and Canada depends on the US Military to defend them since they keep shrinking their own Military budget year after year. The US is getting ripped off in this relationship and we need to renegotiate how American taxpayer dollars are being spent. Canada sells 75% of their exports to the US but carries a trade deficit buying from China, the EU and Mexico. The US wants balanced trade with Canada or we will tariff all of Canada goods until they start purchasing from us instead of everyone else, which only seems fair.

The numbers vary a little from country to country, but essentially, America doesn't tariff other countries, at least we haven't up until Trump. There are definetly positives for us Canadians to join. Our dollar is trash and will never recover, taxes would drop significantly, the house prices would instantly drop in half throughout most of the country (obviously that is a negative if you own or have a mortgage), we'd have a strong military for a change instead of relying on defence from a neighbouring country (and have military presence in the Arctic for a change), we wouldn't have to be confined to a frozen tundra of doom. Of course, downsides are healthcare. I remember awhile back I visited Michigan to do some shopping, driving a honda civic with Ontario license plates, I had some men in a pickup truck chase me yelling out 'dumb commy' and tail gating me for no reason. We are too smart, progressive and empathetic to join the US.

Good Day Eh! Some Canadians would have a melt down becoming a Capitalist State. All of their current Socialist government imposing Liberal wokeness ideas along with their high European taxes would be cut tremendously, which 50% of the citizens wouldn't mind more money in their pockets, deciding for themselves how to spend their own money. These poles taken are what? 10 people who still wish Trudeau didn't quit? I do Love the Canadian National anthem, I always thought it was the opening theme to Hocky Night in Canada on CBC. Doing away with French being their 2nd language would greatly help boost our combined economies too! As a U.S. citizen, traveling into Canada without a passport would be awesome! It's funny how the entire land of Canada would be one big state because most of their population is in southern Ontario well below the parallel line of the U.S. Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho and Washington States. My all time favorite Canadian Ambassador was Don Cherry! Keep the sticks on ice during the transition if it ever happens!🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒 😆😂🤣

Im a PR in Canada and may soon become a citizen. If canada can become a part of the US, then it would be much better for Canada's economy. Currently Ontario's industry is almost on the real property. House price increase substantially in recent years in order to make the Canada's financial report not that ugly. There is almost no novelty in this country in the recent 10 years. Black berry and bombardier are not competitive anymore. Only those who has lots of houses likes the current state of Canada. Because they are benefits from the real property price booming. However, US might not like the merging. The merging could intensively impact their current living standard. Lots of people in Canada may move to US and impact the real property price. They may also compete with US original citizen in the job market.

The Solution. One impressive way to boost the economy of the big landmass and the wealth of its people, America and Canada, would be to wipe away the border between these two great countries which stunts progress, divides people, restricts FREEDOM and creates tension at times. Elon Musk or some other wealthy person with influence should be able to get this unification movement started. JUST THINK of Canadians as well as people from other nations who have gone to America to seek their fame and fortune and have been successful. A prime example would be S. African born Musk who spent three years in Canada, went to America to seek his fame and fortune and is likely to become the world's first trillionaire. Canada has a shrinking GDP per capita which is a key indicator of prosperity, a weakening Canadian dollar, a weak military, inflation issues, national debt has doubled, an increasing cost of living and housing crisis. Canada is so dependent on the USA for its trade that it might as well join the USA. Some Canadians still think that they need a ( USELESS king ) ' hovering ' over them in these modern times who lives on a faraway island and does nothing for them but what they really do need are lower taxes, a strong economy as well as a strong (American) military to protect the arctic. Ownership of the Arctic means nothing if you can't defend it and Canada does not have the military to defend it, so the Arctic is fully dependent on the US for its protection. In April 2021 Putin filed a submission to extend a claim to the Arctic, all the way into the Canadian and Greenland (Denmark) continental shelf and economic zone, as part of Russia's continental shelf. This is a situation where they're claiming the entire Arctic Canadian and Danish continental shelf as part of the Russian continental shelf. In 2018 Beijing agreed it would cooperate with Russia on a new Arctic silk route to connect Europe with Asia, signing 20 bilateral documents and agreeing to invest in the region. As part of this, Beijing will build several Chinese docks across Russia's north in ports. Russia demands permission for ships to use the Northern Passage including the use of Russian pilot ships. Putin wants control of the Arctic trade routes and the natural resources in the Arctic which would create arctic dominance and it would threaten the USA. America is the only country so far that has put 12 men on the moon, returned them safely to earth again and that was more than 50 years ago, so don't underestimate America. It is a very generous nation. One notable example would be the Marshall Plan which financed the rebuilding of western European nations after the devastation of WWII. America is the most powerful country in the world, not just military, but economically and also has the world's biggest economy. It is also the country which has won the highest number of olympic medals, the country from which the highest number of nobel prize winners have come and also the country whose American companies have made the largest impact on the world. In 2024, nine out of ten of the world's wealthiest people were Americans and there were 813 billionaires in America which is twice as many as the next country, China. If America and Canada united, it would be the world's largest country and would be over one million square miles larger than Russia. What a huge 'playground' we all would have with no border to restrict us-! This would be FREEDOM. United we Stand, Divided we Fall.
