Tom has what people say are "political" rap songs. He only has one republican rap song. That was after Trump got shot. Most of his songs that people call political, are about societal issues, and then people put him on a side for calling out bullshit. He is definitely a "fight the power" type of rapper.

Absolutely agree. He was not a political rapper, he makes music about current issues & things that people are going through in our country/world by spitting nothing but FACTS about those situations. If you like truth you like Tom, IMO. People cannot count him out for being “political”, he is exactly what EMINEM was back in the late 90s when i went to the Up In Smoke Tour, Em was a rage against the system type rapper, and that is exactly what Tom is, so the line in his latest song “Eminem fans want Shady to diss me” is so great bc back when Em claimed to be “Shady” he was making his most “offensive” songs/music, so it’s total hypocrisy that HIS FANS don’t like, or at least RESPECT, Tom! Lol..anyway, great comment!

Through listening to him in Reaction videos I was then introduced to Ren. If you haven't heard of Ren, then I encourage you to watch his music video "Hi Ren" by Ren. I believe you will become a RENagade, and want more, going into the Ren Rabbit Hole. Ren isn't the same as Tom, he is different. He is more of a modern-day Shakespeare- He raps, sings, tells stories, he does it All! His music usually has a message or lesson, some is just Fun music. His video "Money Game 3" won 3 awards, best video, best concept, and something else. BTW he is Welsh yet lives in Brighton, UK.

The kind of Tom Stuff you’re asking for. You won’t find any politics in these songs. Just real life: “Sober”, “Church”, Castles”, “Boom Bap 101”, “Exposure”, “Best Rapper Ever”, “Don’t Look Down”, “No Response”, “I Wish”, “My Fans”, “In God We Trust”, “Heroes”, “Balloons”, “Famous”, “Fighter”, “Scars”, and “Stronger Version”. Honorable mention to “Spilled Milk”. There’s an audio-only version of it on YT somewhere because he never released a video for it. Also, he battled Mac Lethal at the beginning of his blowup. After a Twitter exchange Tom baited with “Lethal Injection”, and after Mac responded with “Single White Female”, he bulldozed Lethal with “Mac Lethal Sucks”. P.S. If your curiosity gets the better of you, his albums “The Brave” and “The Brave 2” are joint projects with Adam Calhoun. There is some heavy political content, but also some real heavy personal story stuff in there that doesn’t exist as music videos on YT. Knox Hill does great dissections of both albums from his usual technical and lyrical perspective.

@@rhondaallan4680 I saw this happen to my sister-in-law's daughter. She was a beautiful, brilliant, talented teen, graduated high school early, but after becoming a gifted nurse in her early 20s, she spent most of her adult life in and out of rehab. Times when she was clean, she was amazing. In the beginning, she often worked as a highly paid prostitute to support her habit. She bankrupted her mother and step-father, paying for expensive rehab and keeping her out of prison. Eventually she was living in ghetto areas, working from the front porch of drug houses. She was still beautiful. 😞 When she was only 42 her naked body was found with another murdered prostitute, behind an abandoned house in Atlanta, GA. Her mother never recovered from the loss, and died during the recent epidemic. I will pray for your daughter, and for you and your other daughter. I pray God finds a way to save her life. @lawrenceshdow4 ай бұрын
yeah... but to be fair; Tom games the hell out of that system. Which is awesome for him; but it really skews how popular his music truly is. The reason he begs fans to download on itunes is because itunes in the US switched to mostly apple music. no one really buys singles anymore because they can be downloaded free or streamed on other services. But Tom knows each purchase on iTunes still counts as 1500 streams towards billboard digital charts. So if he drops a song and gets a thousand people to actually buy a single on itunes (which is not something most people in any fan base do now adays). He will add over a million streams that week; which pushes him to the top for the week. Lots of times he is competing against michael jackson songs from 30 years ago for the number one spot; because for some reason people will be downloading that for the week. don't get me wrong; tom kicks ass. And I buy his physical albums. But I'm not going to buy a digital single on itunes just to help him flex about digital number ones.

@@thoughtsofapredicatewinnerhey, if you follow toms journey, he was a liberal, he did a lot of spoken word poetry. He was even not a fan of trump in the early stuff, he was anti gun and was very different. In his music he started exploring issues of race and culture while always consistently pushing his message of hope that you can turn your life around no matter where you find yourself. It's in almost every song. He started talking about political issues and pointing out contradictions and problems in culture. He wasn't right at all. The fact is we have to realize that the party's are not what they were. The left used to be anti war, pro free speech, for the working class etc.. ppl still think they are but they haven't faced reality. The neocon right wing war mongers just came out in support of Harris. The Dems are now the party of war, big corporations, pharma, big oil and are pro war, pro censorship and threw the working class under the bus and are doing the same to the black community, replacing them with the migrants. Giving illegal immigrants thousands a month and bussing them in, when they should have been fighting for those benefits for the black community. Modern dem party is now joined with the neocons of the right to create an new party. The reason ppl don't see it is because of a cult like mentality and hatred for trump. I'm not a trump fan or a fan of the government no matter who is running it. But if you set aside feelings and look at the facts and what's happening, you will see the truth of what I said. This is why RFK jr, Tulsi gabbard and other honest genuine leftist are endorsing trump.

Hes talking about Mac Lethal. He said he would never do disses after that because it made him feel like a bad person, and he didn't feel good about it after the fact.Even though he absolutely smoked Mac Lethal. He started out with Lethal Injection, basically baiting him and wnen Mac Lethel responded Tom dropped Mac Lethel Sucks and that was the big W. Check em out for sure
@JoeHalcyon4 ай бұрын
Yep, Mac Lethal beef. Mac Lethal was dissing Tom on facebook and twitter and was apparently something a well known battle rapper in his day. Tom put out a bait track called Lethal Injection, back when a LOT of people were sleeping on Tom's rap skills because they didn't like his political music. Tom was WELL aware of the perception, so on Lethal Injection Tom INTENTIONALLY held back. Mac Lethal then bit and dissed Tom (and it turns out Mac didn't even write all his own diss - he had help from rappers like Logic, Crypt and others). Then within 48 hours of Mac dropping his diss (and scoring an appearance on the "Ellen Show" because of it), Tom dropped his REAL response, Mac Lethal Sucks. Tom buried Mac SO badly that Mac deleted ALL his social media for 6 months, and it put EVERYONE on notice that Tom was NOT light work to be messed with. Mac didn't even write a response diss until 5 years later, just after God Mode, only this time it sounds like he used AI to help with the track and it was obvious Mac was trying to get clout off of Tom to get back into the rap game - Tom doesn't do that though like he said in the song - its been his policy since the original beef, and No Response is basically a fire track like God Mode of Tom explaining his new policy to his haters.

@markschoch95094 ай бұрын
First off, congrats on your sobriety! Same here. With this and everything else you said in this video you could be my lil bro, we've been through the exact same shit. I'm just way older than you. So, this is the first video of yours that's come across my screen. The fact that you stopped your reaction, admitted you were being biased, and were able to give the video an unbiased reaction is huge. That never happens, people are unable to admit when they're wrong. They normally double down. For that and for this reaction you have a new sub. Here are the songs like this one: • don't look down • no response • D.R.U.G (feat Madchild) • zero L's (feat Adam Calhoun) - not a video but the song is 🔥 • Fire Emojis (feat Madchild & Adam Calhoun) Many more but it's a start. Dear Rappers is also a must! Now, when it comes to Tom and his political songs.... I know, I know, but just hear me out. He isn't a conservative or republican rapper. If anything he's libertarian. Just like you said what you grew up on, he is actually against the system. In fact he has a song called "The System", and I'll put $100 on it that if you don't like that song I'll donate to your channel. Now, I'll be honest with you, he does lean right but only because of the woke left has gone so crazy with some of their views. Also, Eminem was a huge influence on him.... I'm talking about the Shady Era. In fact he won a beat produced by Eminem by bidding $100,000 for it. He then used that beat to give Eminem his flowers, called "Dear Slim". So, if you think about how Eminem used to be against the system it was a time when the Republicans were acting crazy and stepping on free speech abd peoples rights. Well, right now the progressive woke is the one doing crazy shit, and Tom has that same I don't give a fuck attitude towards them as Em had back then towards the crazy Republicans at the time. So if you like that music from Em you will like the crazy shit talking side of Tom in songs like: • everybody needs me • dummies • clownworld Full warning, Tom really doesn't give a fuck! Keep doing your thing man, we about to launch your channel!

Some things about Tom to bring you up to speed. He also is a recovering addict/alcoholic, and speaks a LOT to that. His fans are called "Hang Over Gang" because that was originally Tom's band of drinking buddies up in Canada, but he fell out with them when he got clean. The name meant so much to him it carried over to his fans who wear it as a badge of honor of those who have fought the fight to be sober, hence "Hang Over Gang", the hang over from achieving that sobriety and battling to keep it. "Sad Rappers" is a great song to illustrate this. He is political, but that's just one avenue. He comments on what he thinks is important, and what he thinks people need to be aware of. He doesn't just rap about one thing, but hits a variety of topics. If you want to get the full picture of Tom, God Mode was a nice intro - Dear Rappers is how he originally blew up, "Castles" shows Tom's real character, White Boy is his first real controversial "political" song, "This House" was his response to the hate he got from Whiteboy, "I Hate Hip Hop" lets you know what kind of artist Tom is, and "I'm Sorry" and "No Response" are Tom's messages in general to the haters. There's also the goofy troll side of Tom (heavily influenced by Eminem), with tracks like "I'm Corny", "Buttholes" and "Everybody Hates Me". And then there is the independent side of Tom with "Cancelled" and "The Music Industry" which are similar in tone to Dear Rappers. And that is just a start - Tom has pop songs, rock songs, etc. He's basically Rap with a Punk Rock attitude (real Punk, not sell outs like Rage Against the Machine and Green Day). That should help you get started.

@JoeHalcyon4 ай бұрын
One last thing - If there is one political song of Tom's you should listen to, listen to "The Machine". It's a non-trolly song, and it really gives you insight into what Tom really is and what he really believes (hint - he's not a Republican). (Oh, and yes, the Billboard thing is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Tom did a collab with Ben Shapiro called "Facts" and it outdid Nicky Minaj's to the point where Nicki was throwing a shit fit and asking who the hell Tom MacDonald was - the Labels then rigged the charts to have 7 different versions of Nicky's song that they all tallied at the end to "beat" Tom's song, and then when the labels got called out on that obvious bullshit, they forced Billboard to take down the digital sales charts so that something like this never happens again - because Tom's success as an independent will cause signed artists to begin to wonder why exactly they need the labels to get their songs out....)
