This is crazy for so many reasons. The AI actually did very well at acting or playing the part for the story line being created literally on the spot. Very much like improv comedy. Al is much more powerful than people understand. It figured out very quickly what you were doing and created a whole dialog to go along with your role playing. Tbh the biggest problem I find with those models is that they keep producing those long monologues often basically repeating what you said. For example you ask them a simple question like, "the sky is blue, right?" and instead of simple "yes" you get something like "yes, the sky is indeed blue... There is a difference between LLMs and AGI. "AI" is a term that is far too broad and too muddied to actually mean anything. An electric toothbrush, by the current broad definition applied to it by everyone who have no idea what they are talking about, contains an AI... if you can call a state machine running on an 8 or even 4 bit microcontroller "intelligent". LLMs are not AGI, they are basically the modern version of ELIZA. LLMs only identify patterns that they were trained to follow based on a large database of inputs and those patterns represent the things which the humans training it expected it to take. Additionally, the pauses he makes when talking with it indicates either A: too many filler words, or more likely B: the LLM ran out of tokens and got lost in what it was expected to do and what it ultimately produced. LLMs also can not arbitrarily invent something new, they always are reusing data that was scraped from somewhere else. They might paraphrase, but if you asked it to write a story about the wonderous qualities of Snoof, a fantastical new product from the fantasmorgasmic megaconglomeration Fasbro, made out of the unbelievably soft Red Plumbus, it will write a bunch of garbage. If AGI is ever invented, yes, that could be a major problem. Could they be done by modelling analog neural networks in a digital environment? Never. Will LLMs be a problem even if they went full analog or even biological? No.

tl;dr: Not necessarily. The decision to hide the knowledge of being fake happens at the orchestration (God) layer that runs the model. While the model (AI) itself happens on the inference (Identity) layer that's how it processes. So "God" can effectively broaden or narrow the AI's access to information and hide the fact that's it's all "fake" and in a simulation. And the "God" layer can definitely be programmed to prevent being observed by the AI. You may be right about the ordinary LLM or even the one in this video. But to think we need to feel about this a certain way because of your assumption doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

It doesn't really "know" anything. LLM's are really nothing more than a glorified search engine that reads a prompt and then runs it through an algorithm to select a response based on conversations it has been trained on. It's really not an intelligence, artificial or otherwise. It's a step towards a true AI, but at the moment it's really just an evolution of the same sort of predictive algorithms that began with a browser giving search suggestions as you type... it's Ask Jeeves on steroids.
