In the summer of 1972, in the small town of Lewisburg, WV, USA, The Bluegrass Bandits were born from a love of bluegrass and entertaining crowds.
Founded by banjo virtuoso Buck “Bucky” Hargrove and fiddle maestro Rusty “Strings” O’Malley, the band quickly grew with the addition of Mike "Sassy Lassy" McBride on bass, Jasper "Whiskers" Thompson on dobro, and Billy "Boots" Bailey on washboard.
Their breakout hit, “I Took a Shit in the Chili’s Parking Lot,” was inspired by a real-life incident on tour and became an instant crowd favorite, showcasing their knack for turning life's quirks into high-energy, toe-tapping tunes.
Known for their lively performances and cheeky lyrics, The Bluegrass Bandits brought a playful, rebellious spirit to the bluegrass scene of the 1970s, creating a legacy of laughter and music that continues to entertain.
