When I first visited VN in 2005 in Dinh Quan, my wife’s grandmother’s house had the bathroom over the pond. I couldn’t use it. Just held it in til we went somewhere with a public toilet!

your friend jesse is pretty adventurous for sure. also near the end with the grandma and auntie joking and bantering with you guys like family is pretty cool. the hospitality of vang was very generous. you guys should have offered to pay for the food and also have a chance to check out the local market.

First and foremost, Thank You, Dustin and Jesse, for showing us the " hidden side " of Vietnam. I have so much respect for both of you. You two are very humble, respectful, adventurous, overall, just super fun to watch. I'm not trying to be pretentious or a " princess," but there were few moments I had to look away and felt nauseous because of the " graphics " demonstrations . I'm surprise you didn't run into problems with mosquitos. I visited Soc Trang a few times back in the 80s. After sunset, the air was literally filled with mosquitos, and for whatever reasons they spared the locals but would suck us dried if we dared to get out of our mosquito net tent.

The room with the ancestors' altar 1:03:47 is the main room in the whole house/complex. That's where the eldest or the head of the family sleep. You guys get the VIP's treatment there. In all my years growing up in Viet Nam, I don't remember getting to sleep there ever when visiting my relatives.

My aunt lived in Soc Trang and my uncle lived in Tra On. Now you reminded me about the pass…. Couple times a year my mom took me and my sisters to see them and I hated the cau ca over there. I miss mien Tay (the people over are very friendly) but not cau ca 😏 You guys were working hard 😓 😂
