For the hiking geeks out there, the vulcano is actually called "Pico" (which gives the name to the island) and it stands 2,351 m (7,713 ft) above sea level. The hike itself is 8.5 km (5.2 mi) roundtrip with an elevation gain of 1,078 m (3,536 ft). It's definitely not the easiest one and you should take water and food with you. Oh my gosh, such a wonderful video! Your mom was such a sport! I spent 8 years on the island of Pico from 1982 to 1990 (my teens) and I have such fond memories.
