THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO! I never dropped this video but I wanted to share this with you all so that you could learn from my mistake. Even it helps just one person, that is worth it in my opinion. In this video I was riding a Ducati 1199 Panigale (thankfully not my current Ducati 1299 Panigale S). I was merging onto a highway and did not notice a MASSIVE crack in the road. This was a very unfortunate event because it did total the bike. Nate pulled up on a Ducati Panigale V4 to help rescue me. I am grateful that I was able to walk away from this accident without any issues or scratches.

This is a GREAT reminder that as riders it can happen at any time! Luckily you were all geared up and not going fast but reminder people to wear your gear and always be aware of roads and surroundings! Can't wait for the next trip to LA brodie!

If he was going fast it would of never happened. In NY the highway is so fucked up you can't enter highway at under 70 on a sports bike mostly for that reason. Not fast enough to skip over it and got caught in the groove

He crashed because he was going slow! The roads will always suck! We all know he could ride and we all make mistakes. It wasn't the road it was the speed and angle he went over it. A little more angle he would have made it. A little more speed he would have made it.

@@FastLaneD My neighbor was driving his car and some roadwork that had no signs put out for caused major damage to his car. It took a long process but he eventually got the city to pay for it. His was like a dropoff in the road. Pretty similar really. Anyway I will learn from your mistake... out in AZ I don't see this kind of thing too often *BUT I DO* when I go into Phoenix... there is a stretch I have hit more recently... and it's all patchy like this.. and will now keep my eye out. Yellow boots made you post this, didn't he? 😆The best 2 pieces of advice I've ever heard about riding are; 1) Everyone crashes a bike eventually, so don't just expect it, visualize what you are going to do in all the different scenarios and make up your mind what to do in advance because you won't have time to decide when it happens. 2) Ride like everyone is trying to kill you. Worried about if that car up ahead is going to pull out in front of you? What if it does? Are you giving yourself enough time / space to stop or swerve? Etc.

@erichall519
@erichall519 5 ай бұрын
Let’s first say KZbinrs and influencers might be good at riding but I’ve seen some horrible advice for gear.. they will recommend stuff just because they like it. For instance riders in AZ and TX will swear by textile jackets because the heat is so hot in there states but hands down nothing competes with leather for ABRASION (not insulation, in the cold you will freeze in leather ) They make perforated leather so it breathes in the heat but is still stronger than any other textile 2nd: now you need impact protection because the slide happens after you make contact with the ground , so you want Level 2 protection (shoulders , knees , hips, and even a chest guard if available) Boots, not shoes and not ankle high, you want them past the ankle so when the 400lb bike falls on top of you it doesn’t fracture anything below the knees. Gloves, again leather ( with a palm slider and perforation for the weather ) if you ride cold you can wear latex gloves under your gloves and that will do an amazing job at insulation against the cold while keeping a safe glove on) Helmets…. This is the most common mistake because they come in three different head shapes ( oval , long oval , intermediate) So this is where you always hear people saying BRO YOU HAVE TO GO UP A SIZE BECAUSE IT RUNS TIGHT This is typically not true and it’s tight because there head is round but the helmet is long oval like BELL helmets So they get pressure on there temples and go up a size (but then it’s lose on there forehead now So the best way to get a proper helmet fit is to measure your head and select a (intermediate shape helmet in that size ) Then rule out if you have EVEN pressure which is good or if you have a specific pressure point on your temples or forehead So, if you forehead is tight then you would want a long oval,… but if that feels good and it’s your temples the. You want a ROUND helmet .. When you Google the helmet the description will say which shape it is. Some brands will not work for you based on your head shape Next: helmet material People like the carbon fiber because it’s light and strong but it’s louder then fiberglass so if your running a coms system like Cardo or Sena then CF will suck Fiberglass is super strong Lastly : if your helmet is made of ABS or any other kind of plastic DONT GET IT. If you can’t pronounce the word the. It’s plastic and it will BURN OF ON A SLIDE why faster then you have to worry about the density of the foam protection inside.. Hope this helps. People recommend crap Singed, (( gear specialist from Arai))

Thanks for sharing man, that shits fucked up, imagine if traffic was moving fast and someone couldn't stop in time if a bike fell from that. Hope that shit got fixed

Wow, feel really bad for you! I had a similar problem happened a few month back when I hit a pot hole on highway speed! There was no way to avoid it however I was lucky that only buckled both front and rear rims on my Multistrada. Glad you're okay!

I've hit grooves like that on the road but not with the side wall of the tire. That groove loaded that side up as if you were counter steering or something and dumped. Sucks it happened. Wish you had some sliders for the ducati. It might of had the possibility of mitigating those damages. I see bigger and better things to come though. Your experience is a lesson to me if I see a groove on the road like that. Can't believe they fixed the road so bad like that. That would damage peoples wheels at speed or offset a car too in the rain.

Glad you're ok, my man. Bro, you weren’t even going that fast, and look how far you slid. Can you imagine if you were going 80,90 miles an hour crazy.

If he was doing 80-90mph he would of glide right over it and never fell

@@mylifeinnewyork5625 I don’t want to argue about something trivial. But that’s not necessarily true. When he walks back and looks at the offset in the freeway, it’s around 3 to 4 inches. If he was going faster, it could’ve sent him into a speed wobble which would’ve ended up way worse Because of all the traffic. That’s why he wrecked. He wasn’t going fast enough to go into a speed wobble, so it just pulled the bike from underneath him because his back wheel and his front wheel were offset because of the ridge.

Dam so sorry bruh! That really sucked. I hate to see such a beautiful bike get damaged. It doesn't look that bad. I'm sure you're already ordering parts to replace. It will be back prefect in no time. Great video

I hit something similar in Costa Rica and it slammed me down like a rat trap bar being triggered! I shattered my shoulder ball and socket into 4 pieces. I had to fly home with a broken shoulder because the hospital was backed up and couldn't see me for 2 weeks...If I had waited, they would have had to re-break my shoulder in order to re-set it! That was the longest and most uncomfortable flight I ever taken! If you decide to ride in a foreign country, be very careful of road conditions (and how aggressive the other drivers are). I still ride, and I still vacation ride too.
