The 399 sq ft rule is to keep it classified as an rv. Any bigger, it's classified as permanent dwelling and there are more moving restrictions. 399 can be towed with a truck. Plus, the building codes and structural rules differ.

I specialize in space saving! Some of these could do better, but overall? Not bad! Kitchens greatly benefit from drawers for pan storage! Easy Access! The "black appliances" suck the light out of the rooms! JMHO: I prefer appliances to match cabinets so as not to cut up smapp areas.

Just throwing this out there. Since bunker fresh air intakes are easily defeated by small amounts of flammable liquids, what safeguards do your bunkers have in place to prevent this?
@RJM1011

Your find out about that in the bunker videos if you watch them.

One of the things with the Fuhrer Bunker that was in Berlin, they had the air intake high up in a strong masonry tower. Harder to sabotage and the general nature of many harmful gases being heavier than air. It had filtration too, but the high up design was added measure.
@Thecruisingrancher
@Thecruisingrancher 3 ай бұрын
@@jeffkardosjr.3825 I understand the difference. Most videos show intakes around chest high. The are easily defeated with a cup or two of gasoline or any flammable liquid. Pour down intake, wait a minute and drop match. The NBC filtration will not survive. Just a matter of time before the inhabitants flee and then you have access to supplies. Again, my question, what defenses are built in to prevent this?

The one thing I noticed about all these mini homes is tiny closet. Were do you hang all you cloths? The bedrooms are small so you can't add a closet. I understand people are looking for cheaper homes but they still need to have space for you cloths and other stuff. I would rather lose a little space in the kitchen or living room to gain a bigger bedroom.

Number six I don’t care for the windows and the porch. The windows does not open and it’s going to be hot. Love the size of the porch though. For me no laugh! I would rather have the height and the width around the bed is a must, if it’s a one bedroom and chill is a must kitchen, I don’t like the long gated kitchen you have to walk too far from one into the other galley is best. When does must open two doors of the front one of the side or in the back. Not only for convenience, but it’s safety in case your tonic catches on fire.

These are park model RVs, meant to be parked for extended periods of time, and not really "mini homes". Could you live in it year 'round? I suppose that you could if you had a place to park it. The trailer layouts are nice concepts having small footprints and would be cool built as actual tiny homes or as vacation camps, possibly at a lake, for one or two people.

@MGillDesign

@@IceLynne I understand the windows are a method of escape. But it's the visual of seeing wall-to-wall flames (because the fire can easily span across that narrow space. Knowing that one false move, and delayed reaction, in such a narrow space, could be fatal. I just prefer a normal house structure, with wings, large square rooms and wide open areas. That's just me. I don't mind the mini layout as an underground bunker, because i wouldn't be living in it everyday, only when SHTF or an emergency.

@sebastienbolduc5654
@sebastienbolduc5654 3 ай бұрын
It's an overinflated market, no doubt! Another major cost that is often overlooked is the value of the property the house is built on. When I was young, growing up during the 80s, it was not normal for property values to be equal or more than the value of the home built upon it. Nowadays everything has changed. That's also a large contributor to rise of housing prices.

Is it possible to take one of these complete cabins, windows, decks, and all, and fully enclose it inside one of your shelters, with its interior, in turn painted a nice sky blue or with a woodland mural, possibly with some sort of LED lighting effect to simulate daylight? It would be amazing to have an underground bunker with the look and feel of an aboveground cabin in the woods!

#20 wide is my favourite. The space is fantastic. Don’t want to feel like you are living in a dorm room. Important features storage space, washer and dryer, tall ceilings, and decorations. They need to get ride of the black and white circular tile decorations. #27 under 399 sq feet was absolutely beautifully decorated. The fireplace on the deck was a dream design. If you are looking for design ideas I would suggest Innerscene’s virtual sun or sky skylight for the bunkers. They have a virtual sun and sky that looks real and the sun can move across the sky mimicking a real sun to create a circadian rhythm.

Have you ever been in a IKEA? Ever the fake windows in their setups? Big flat lights that evenly distribute the light, and maybe shear curtains covering them allowing light to pass, but to keep up the illusion that it’s a fake window? How cool would it be to do a tiny home design and incorporate fake windows to make it feel like less of a shelter? You could even take away some of that underfloor storage and relegate it to the back and have to floor go up where the bedroom and bathroom is to put the utilities. Maybe even think of 5th wheel RV designs where the ceiling is tall in the living room, then the floor goes “up” to allow for the goose neck. You may also be able to incorporate a loft like they do instead.

I really enjoyed this - I also think it's great for a business owner to demonstrate how they're trying to innovate through inspiration. It's an example of how you're focused on improving. I get the most value out of videos like this and the philosophy videos of why you do one thing versus another. Cabin 5 (the last one, the least expensive one) was probably the most relevant to bunker design. I really appreciated how it had different clear "zones", and how there was a closet tucked away behind the kitchen. You really don't need a wide kitchen usually. I think you should also check out high-end RVs.

I like the idea of making a second floor so you can have a taller sitting area and at the same time, gain some space for children to play, or just to store more stuff. In exchange for digging the hole a little deeper, you gain almost double the floor space and you don't have to build more foundation. I'd love to see how much more it would cost just to add some height and another floor. Hope you're doing well btw!

@Atlas Survival Shelters, What I would like as a retired chef is an amazing kitchen and freezer off solar. Sometimes it’s nice not to have to eat crap out of a can or bag. You can do a pretty decent indoor garden in less than 20 Sq ft. with led lighting running off solar too. I would do hydroponics as I have been growing hydroponically for the last 20 years. Only issue I could see though would be the extra demand on water. We have off grid earthships here in New Mexico and they have a rain water collection system than can collect and store water for up to a year. Just because it’s a bunker doesn’t mean you will be using it during a nuclear winter. Passive water collection would be a bonus. I’m just dreaming though and probably could never afford one. Good stuff as always Ron!

That's a good idea, I probably won't ever get one either but thinking of designs is always entertaining. I don't want to even think what the shipping costs would be to get a bunker where I am (hint: Texas is a little too hot and small for me). One thing I've not seen anyone do, which confuses me, is bury some fuel, water, and waste tanks along side the bunker and plumb them in. Just for $ and storage issues, I'd leave the fuel and water tanks empty until things go worse then they are now, but that would give you quite a bit extra surge capacity if it came down to it. Also, thanks for mentioning the hydroponics, I'm checking out your videos on that next, been wanting to start some in my new place.

You should look into aquaponics if you are already doing hydroponics. Done properly there isn't a 'fishy' smell and could provide extra protein in a survival situation. The fish are mainly to provide the needed nutrients for the plants and the plant scraps can feed the fish if you use tilapia.
