Lots of them are held in a state close to slavery. Also a lot of things are happening there in south east Asia. Organized crime group kills under cover cops from China. As a Chinese who lives in Southeast Asia, I can assure you that these scams were so frequent in 2023, and a movie named “No More Bets” was shot to increase awareness of the citizens. It’s true that some of the scammers were actually the victims where they got scammed to fly to Myanmar, Thailand or Cambodia for better job opportunities, and later were kidnapped. The victims were mainly from China, Taiwan and Malaysia, and they all communicated thru Chinese. It went viral within the Chinese community, but it didn’t go viral outside it, simply because those who didn’t speak Chinese were not the scammers’ target audience. I guess since now most Chinese are aware of these scams, the scammers are shifting their target audience to another community.

This, and the fact that they are innovating on scams, coming with new ones or simply remixing others. Some knowledge how even couple of those scams work, can help discern when something wrong is happening. Or that something "stinks" and one should steer clear of it

We struggled a lot and my mom had a heart issue when this happened. In Peru, our police enforcement sucks and they do nothing about this. That's quite the storytelling, Christophe! The first act, serving as the exposition, was intriguing and captivating. The second act dived deeper into the story, establishing different perspectives. But it’s the third act that truly got me-when you realize that, despite being on different levels of hierarchy, both the scammer and the victim are, from an external perspective, on the same level. They can both be seen as victims, albeit with different responsibilities and degrees of blame. This shift in perspective, along with the careful attention to the story's purpose and its unfolding, makes this video truly remarkable. It sets a high standard for your channel and its storytelling approach. P.S. Highlighting that even scammed individuals, who may lose everything, are often not perceived as victims but instead demonized by parts of society for their "stupidity" adds another layer to the issue. This attitude indirectly benefits the criminals, as it discourages victims from sharing their stories or seeking justice. It’s a critical point that deserves attention, as it underscores how societal perceptions can exacerbate the problem and leave victims feeling isolated and powerless.

We all know about scams and how they do it: Why we can’t track them yet? And stop them from scamming people? I get 100 calls per day from scammers. I can’t report any of those.

Just 7:51 in and already loving it. Great job, subscribed and adding a comment to support the algorytm gods (of course watch the in-video add in full ;) ). Cheers and good luck!

You forgot one CRUCIAL piece of advice -- you can "Block unknown account messages" in your advanced WhatsApp settings. This helps prevent you from being randomly messaged by unknown numbers.

Something to think about is your profile picture, I came from the shoutout from Search party and subbed to check the videos not knowing who you were from your KZbin pic but then when you released your video I recognized your face in the thumbnail. Just some food for thought that your face carries some recognition value

The fact that people are falling for these scams is mind-blowing.

You need to remember that not everyone is as smart as you. The other thing to remember is that some people live very stressful lives and cognition is impaired under such circumstances. It’s easy to assume that everyone who falls for these scams is stupid, but it’s just not true. Be grateful that a) you are smart, and b) you have never been in a situation so stressful that someone has been able to take advantage of you. Finally, 3) empathy is a good thing.
