the only thing that matters is you are happy with the trade. i wouldnt be too worried about the miles. the blow by seems minimal to almost non-existent. the square body was a more desirable truck to me. im not an isuzumax fan. the bed on the square body looked like it was meant to be on a 60" cab to center of rear axle and the square body was 56" cab to center of rear axle. the squarebody would have been neat with a 5.9 or other diesel stuffed in it.

Awesome video as per usual! I almost bought an extended cab LB7 right before I bought my 1995 K2500 5-speed manual 454. Except for the fuel mileage, I am so happy I went with the truck I did. Because the LB7 was twice as much and I have always loved the 454. But from a practicality stand point, the LB7 makes complete sense in the right situation. Anyways, congrats on the new truck! That was a good trade! First gen Silverados are when things started getting a little bit more electronic but still REALLY solid trucks. That LB7 still has life left in it in my opinion. Look forward to more videos! Keep up the great work and God bless - Everett

poster-boy explanation for what happens on a heavy bumper pull without a weight distributing hitch. Having your steering axle work is nice and having your front axle carry some load is even better. I am seeing guys with 20k bumper pull trailers and I know the 1 tons are "ok" with this but still, it's a lot of cantilevered weight and it makes a difference even if the driver doesn't think it does

Nice trade. You will get more use out of the diesel for your line of work. I would like to see you try and save the body now while you have more to work with. A couple of aftermarket rocker panels, corners and rattle can paint will look good from a little distance. It may also convince the DOT and Cops that you have well maintained equipment and they let you pass on down the road, without a vehicle inspection.

Great deal brother . I love the Alison in those want to put one in my 2nd Gen cumins. My brother has a 02 crew cab dmax we put a intake , opened up ex. And put a edge tuner. Man that thing is a puller. It throws you back unloaded and fills empty towing a good load. My 06 1ton dodge has the g56 6spd it crys for at least 2 more gears. May even put a Alison in it. I would guess yours has had the injectors done at least once. With 340 on it maybe 2 times Runner hard

That wheel lift setup is something; I've never seen an electric power unit mated to a lift like that. Looks homemade. When I saw the front lift up, I thought "Man, that thing needs airbags, and then it would probably be fine."...and then you showed the airbags. Lol. Edit: you said "How many miles do you think it's got?" and I was thinking, "By the look of that seat, about 300k.." I was right. 🤣

I got out of the diesel game a few weeks ago. I sold my LBZ 3500. I went back to a gas job. Diesels pull so nice but the repair bills are insane compared to a gas engine. I picked myself up a 2001 Silverado 2500hd with the big 8.1L Vortec which also has the Allison 1000 5 speed and it pulls like a monster so far. It's a pig on gas but I'd so much rather pay at the pump than in insane repairs. I think you got a good deal on the trade though, I think you'll really appreciate that Allison transmission for towing with. The tow/haul works amazing 🤙

it will be a nice tow rig once u fix it up i would keep it . will make towing the travel trailers for your business and new projects so much more enjoyable and it doesn’t even need to be a daily driver use it when u need it .i would just fix up the problems with it ,rockers get some nice rust free doors and new seats . make sure u check the frame real well especially behind the fuel tank ,crap gets behind it and because it’s hard to clean with the tank being there the frames rot . ask me how i know i just had to rebuild my 2000 gmc 1500 because the frame was real thin and this thing had a shit ton of undercoating every where like a inch thick on the frame. i swapped out everything, engine , transfer case ,rear end ,shocks , power steering pump and steering box ,wiring harness ,abs unit, filler neck and hose and now my push bottom and water pumps messed up .it never ends . it will make for some great videos especially the rocker repair videos

nice trade on the diesel. you might laugh.. but positive camber on factory torsion means it sat around too much in recent years. @morgansword3 жыл бұрын
I know what its like to fight for every last thing that makes life better. Neither got hurt in the trade as those square bodies are all that and a bag of chips but when the rust worms get started, its how much can you take on and still have something to use. I'm sure that four wheel drive makes for better ways around and the single wheel rear drive is fine till you get enough on it to make things wrong and that when it shouldn't a been there in the first place.... for me it was if it hooks up, then I will move it. I wouldn't do tunes on the pickup diesel engine as that is a false way of getting it done. Sure I liked the wrecker bed but it wasn't new or even close to. I have built those cabinets on them in a easy two day build with nothing more than a torch and good wire feed. If I had had the space, a plasma cutter, and a stick machine along with a small fork lift to move metal around, I would of done it in a day.... thank you ship builder welding days.... I move rod and fast. I kinda wish I knew your intentions for the new addition I might throw more "caveats" to this game plan but all in all everyone should be happy. the el80 trans is only for light duty work...... hmm, you said Allison transmission and thats a real trans. All in all, I am with ya on it. I would of traded if it was more to what I wanted

by the thumbnail i thought you meant old red, i started to panic a little lol. those old duramax's are pretty solid trucks. something you may want to think about, those transfer cases in those trucks have a issue called "pump rub". basically, there is a little pen or just a little metal piece that goes in between the the pump in the transfer case and the case itself. that piece can typically break and then the rattle from the pump can wear a hole in the case. the casing is made out of magnesium so it wears a hole quickly. then you will start leaking fluid. some people online makes repair kits to stop the pump rub or you can prevent it from happening. My dad has a 06 Sierra LLY, he just put a pump rub kit in it and it wasn't a bad job to do. taking out the transfer case and putting it back in is the hardest part. if you plan on keeping this truck long term, i would do it. but the bad thing is, there no way to tell if its been done already. i think it was worth the trade!

I enjoy the content , I watch a lot of you guys up north . It has to be frustrating living up there , everything is rotted after 5 years . You'd think by now there would be laws against this , not undercoating vehicles that they know is going to end up in that part of the world . It's ridiculous. If I was a gear head and this was my hobby and living , I would either move or just plan on doing a lot of flying and driving back vehicles from the south and southwest, then undercoating them the right way . You could definitely turn a profit . Just my opinion
