Rock Lee is definitely my favorite character from Naruto. I have always been inspired by his energy and his training attitude. I want to challenge myself to train like him for a week and see if I could improve like the way he does!
Specially thanks to ‪@WonderboyMMA‬ and ‪@SenseiSeth‬ for helping me out for this video!
Please let me know either me or Ed from ‪@metrolinamartialarts‬ is the better Rock Lee!

For anyone interested in the science of this type of training. There is something called post activation potentiation, this is when your cns gets ready to fire up your muscles to exert great amounts of force, training with ankle weights make your brain recruit your muscles fibers to a higher degree so that you are able to move and once you take them off your body is still pumped from using the weights and but because you no longer have extra load to move your body moves so much faster because is ready to move under greater load. This training is effective to increase speed however the speed increase only happens while you are pumped from using the extra load, to get long term benefits you need to not only train constantly with the weights to get this effect,, you need to drill your kicks without the weights so your body builds the adaptation to the greater speed, otherwise you will only get a momentary increase in speed and over time you will lose it because your body is no longer being forced to fire up your muscles before moving without the extra weight. It takes around 3 week to build a neurological adaptation, that means that kevin would need to do this type of training for a tleast 3 weeks so that his speed boost actually sticks around, because is only one week he will see a drop on his speed starting next week. Also you need to drill kicks with the new speed because your body will get used to the speed you are moving, so if you only train with the ankle weights, even if you feel faster when you take them off you will get slower over time, so you need to use the weight to get the PAP effect and then drill your techniques without the weight to actually see long term improvements in speed. Also doing a mix of strength movements like knee and leg raises, holding your leg out in the front and to the side and doing slow controlled reps of kicks will be much more effective to strengthen the muscles used during kicks than just kicking as fast as you can with the weights as that is more likely to hurt you if you use too much weight. So to anyone that wants to try this method, get the ankles and do strength exercises and kicks with a slow and controlled form, after a few days start incorporating faster movements with the weights on after you done the strength exercises and after you take off the weights perform your kicks as you normally do, just make sure to not do too much volume with the weights on or you will be fatigued by the time you take the weights off and won't see much speed improvements. This is the most effective and safest method to train with weights.

Even for a beginner??
@Eri587
@Eri587 Жыл бұрын
@@maryfuentes7277 Definitely not. For a beginner doing normal bodyweight exercises and with normal weights would be more effective to strengthen their body. And for technique they need to know how to perform a kick properly, if you do this type of training without knowing the technique you can see physical improvements but your technique will not improve as doing kicks with ankle weights make it harder to kick properly so doing kicks with weights would make it harder to get them right. A beginner can incorporate the strength exercises i mentioned but with very light weights as part of his strength training but should focus on learning the form without weights first and get good at it before adding the ankle weights.

It should be emphasized that there's a threshold for how much weight you can apply before you start to cause excessive strain to your connective tissue. Frankly, 5lbs/ankle is considered a bit excessive. This is exacerbated by the fact these weights are at the end of a long lever where they're stretching out the connective tissue all along the limb. Lots of kicking and heavy weights can cause tendon and ligament tears--not just at the ankle--but up to the knee and potentially the hip. Much the same for the arms if you were to add wrist weights. Also of note, there isn't a huge amount of great research on this training method for long-term performance. Most weighted-clothing training revolves around weighted vests, which partially mimic high-gravity scenarios. Last I checked, these haven't demonstrated much in the way of long-term effects, and they showed some disturbance in regular balance when removed. Weighted clothing training, like microfracturing, is thus often considered a high-risk, reward-undetermined type of training.

you dont really need to say "great amounts of force" (that sounds so comical,cringe,fictional,fake,and misinformed) since its based on your *present strength* btw,moreover,its JUST muscle activation,thats why its called " *post activation* potentiation",its all the *potential* that you *already* had on your body that is being *activated* ,and after it is activated (as it is named " *post* Activation" ,"post" mean "after") then you can use all that strength that you have activated,it doesnt actually *increase* anything,its just make you *explode* your present power much more *fast* which is what is required in some contest like running contest and fighting such as kicking

Jumping straight to 25lbs per leg seems like a huge leap. I wonder what it would feel like to start with something like 5 or 10 lbs and work your way up over a longer period. I work as a server and just switched from trail shoes to winter boots - it's crazy how a weight difference of a few ounces in your footwear translates to noticeably greater fatigue over 18,000+ steps. Awesome video!

@@KevinLeeVlog Careful with those, they are bit large for your size and you aren't used to them. You can do some serious damage to your tendons and ligaments. Long term usage can cause thinning of the ligaments. Everyones built differently, but those are comically oversized for any human body. I wouldn't recommend more than 10 pounds even for a large framed person, and that would be for normal activity of no more than an hour or two a couple days a week. Throwing kicks/punches weighted is generally not healthy. It's a very different motion to something like a farmers carry is to the elbows where the muscles are acting to support the joint.

12:40 something baseball players do when they're getting ready to bat is put a weight over the bat and swing it a bunch so that when they're at bat it feels lighter and easier to swing, its not psychological, your body gets used to throwing extra weight around, so when the extra weight is gone it feels like nothing

I trained the same under my boxing coach orders, after like 1 month I realized that my punches were faster so I thought I was like 2 weight categories down because my arms were so light while at the same time stronger in power. Weight training is actually good for conditioning, strenght, speed, cardio and joint conditioning too. I can assure that because I never had a broken bone when kicking full power back in my Taekwondo and Kickboxing days. Only necessary thing is to keep training harder and harder with the weight training so you won't lose the increase on speed, power and cardio. If you can manage this for a couple of years, then fighting bigger people would be easier since your body gets better at enduring a bigger load of physical and mental effort

Rock lee is amasing, not only did he not learn any ninjustsu, he didn't really use any tools or had any physical advantage. He just busted his ass training until he didn't need anything other then his body to fight actual monsters on a equal footing. People who can kill you with a single look got their faces smashed in by this kid. Just imagine if he after many years of taijutsu were to learn even simple ninjutsus made to earn a small advantage what a monster he would become.

When you started beating the first guy up like that, I smashed the like button. One recommendation I have on the weighted pouches is that you started training with too much h weight too soon. Yes, you COULD have really hurt yourself and I'm glad that it did work out in the end. I personally would have approached the weights the same way I approach many other things I work on, start with a little bit and gradually build up. Actual ninja would plant a bamboo seed in their yards and start by jumping over the sappling. Day by day, they would keep jumping over it as they slowly grew. Maybe you could also try securing the weights higher on your quads and hamstrings. Also, you already beat Ed at being Rock Lee for sure.

Weight is so important, that's why weight training will make you stronger. The problem with weight training is it's all gone to waste if you don't how to use that force. If you train martial arts with weights, your muscles will grow to the point where it can use that force as an efficient weapon without growing too big. Gaining muscles specifically for fighting instead of just gaining muscles.

I used to have really heavy shoes in winter and after winter we in school had a running contest (they wanted to take somebody to competitions). I had become the fastest guy in class even though before I could barely keep up (I didn't always beat the guy who was fastest before. Sometimes he won and sometimes I did). I did get an offer to be in competitions but when I had to do the whole health check turned out I wasn't allowed so it ended there. Just walk with heavy shoes, that is all you need to become faster.

The way how this works is actually pressure on muscles. It can be matched to training biceps not every time more weight is having same result on muscles. Scientists proven that slow lifting makes muscles sweat as much as fast liftings. Some older volleyball players know this technique. Around 60 and older. I know this technique, because of my grandpa. Never tried it but for this instance why I am here I will try one day after preparation for body. I appreciate wing chun show video on Sensei Seth channel. I'm trying to learn needed techniques for myself. Greetings! PS: I was writing this at 10:20

I've trained for a good 2 yrs with 10 pound leg weights. I think every martial artist anime fan has gone through this phase. lol I would be careful about tearing your acl. The benefits that I've found with the weights are more to do with the muscles that control your hip flexors, the small mucles throughout your leg that deal with your balance, and your footwork It also added depth to my lower abs. It does help with your power just from the sheer control you have to have when throwing something with them on, but you have to be extra careful throwing striking techniques. If you go full speed, there's a big risk of throwing out your knee. Resistance bands are a lot safer than leg weights, because the pull is not straight to the ground where it's stressing sides/tendons of your knee but back to your center of balance. That being said, they are fun to use after you get used to the constant weight. Also if someone can find a perminant solution to where the weights themselves aren't rubbing up against the ankle, that would be great for all of us that use 'em.

Wow I have not seen one person who actually enjoyed Baruto. I didn't hate it. It's just not as good as it could've been. I don't like where they make the MC from previous series weaker to make new MC seem stronger.

Just a safety tip. Please don't do anything fast in those ankle weights. If you throw a fast kick with that unnatural foot weight you can easily hurt your knee. Can be great for building leg strength though if don't slowly with kick holds.

I think this would be a good training exercise! However, I think if you adjust the weight limit would help too! Like ware steel toe boots for 30 days in normal everyday use. Steel toe boots are about 2 pounds each foot! Then when you do go to the gym and do your normal workout training I would work your way put to 5 or 10-pound weights around your legs. As a bonus training idea I would also do the same thing for rist weights. Start out at 2 pounds then work your way up to 5 to 10 pounds! Once you get to the 10 pounds over all your could keep it right at that limit and build up how much workout sets you do or built up the weight as you see fit! You could even ad a 1 or 2 pound shirt or vest too! To help with cardeo! However, I would not just go all out in a full workout! I would do normal every day stuff before starting a work out! Like walking, hiking, jogging, and normal everything things you do throughout the day with those weights! Then go to the gym and up the anty! This is and idea I been wanting to try but don't have the means nor the supply to test this out! You could also do this type of training in the pool! Ali did some of his Boxing training in the pool! Also, you don't have to go full out hardcore either when training like this! But I would like to see what the results would be after 30 days of training like this! Let me know what you think of my idea and suggestions!
