When it comes to the barbell complex it is one complex every 2 minutes for however many rounds so One complex every 2 minutes for however many rounds it says

I was watching this while I was making my grocery list for the week. My 6yr old son walked over and said "oh, I like this lady, she's really strong" 💪 so you have a little Aussie fan. He loves athletics at the moment and loves going to his Saturday morning meets. Thanks for being a role model for grown ups and kids alike ❤️

when we usually do a complex like the one you did (Power clean, Hang squat clean and push jerk) we do these three exercises in a row for each round. We start, do the second round on 2nd minute, third round on 4th minute and the last round on the 6th. You do these exercises and then rest in between usually increasing the weight :)) Good work!

So dumb make The same mistake two times, and it’s easy to understand and do it, right
@jacethekingslayer Жыл бұрын
@@ijbmusic589 As someone who just went back and watch the first video a few days before this one dropped, yeah, it’s a little annoying. But I disagree that it’s easy to understand. CrossFit and OL terminology can be a little confusing for people not familiar with those sports. That being said, I’d like to see Lucy do a CrossFit workout with an actual CrossFit coach/someone who knows what they’re doing.

@@jacethekingslayer yeah, I applaud her for trying new stuff, but she needs to research before she does the video.

I have a feeling the barbell complex was meant to be every 2 mins. X1 power clean x2 hang power Cleans and x3 push jerks but they're meant to be super heavy for the person. With them being heavy you need the rest of the 2mins to recover and then you do that again for 4 rounds...I could also be wrong 😌 You smashed it as always though 🙌🏻
@donnapage6078 Жыл бұрын
You're correct. A complex is a sequence of movements that should be completed in an allotted time. In this case, it was 1 x power clean into 1 x hang clean into 1 x push jerk with a 2 mins time cap x 4. This complex would factor in at least 90 secs rest in between each round. The whole thing should take 8 mins :)

You should do a video where you try Olympic lifting with someone like Craig Richey! Amazing to see you take on Tia's workout like that :) I think you'd be surprised how strong you are in Olympic lifts once you get the technique down!
@freyagray9601 Жыл бұрын
For the barbell complex it most likely would have been every 2 minutes for 8 minutes - 1x power clean 1x hang clean 1x jerk. So building in weight across the 4 sets so the last set is as heavy as possible😊
@MA-mv3kz Жыл бұрын
Barbell complex is one barbell movement after another like a big triset or superset! So it would have been every 2 minutes complete 1 power clean followed by 1 hang squat clean and then 1 push jerk, so your total of 8 mins work was right! Just means we need another video 👀🤍
@nicolebom6381 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! And that is why Tia has a decent amount of weight on her barbell. Great job Lucy! Keep it up!!
@rosamarianitti Жыл бұрын
A barbell complex is made of exercises you need to perform back to back with no rest. So in 2min you need to do the power clean, the hang squat clean (below the parallel), and the push jerk...Fast enough to rest in that 2min window. And repeat the complex 4 times. :)
@rachelcrowther167 Жыл бұрын
Just one quick tip for your cleans; bring your elbows up slightly higher before you flick your hands under the bar. You want to avoid "reverse curling" it and keep the bar travelling straight up along your body. With that said, you're an absolute beast Lucy and I could never have done this much heavy lifting after a hard run! 😂

The complex sounds like it’s every 2 minutes, not that many reps but you would go heavier. I’m a CrossFitter, if you ever need help reading the workouts feel free to give me a shout I’ll happily explain them. It would be cool of you to try a CrossFit class too it would help with understanding the movements. Coaching is essential for Olympic lifting, it’s not a flick off the legs. It’s a leg drive and your arms guide the bar.

Well done, you trained like 1 of 2-3 sessions a day of Tia-Clair Toomey. She doesn't train only 1.5 hours.
@seanm3933 Жыл бұрын
Not really. She didn't get the workout right and picked a workout that a person new to "oly lifting" shouldn't do (heavy cleans and jerks on an interval). You can't get the stimulus that heavy intervals give you if you can't go heavy, and you can't go heavy if you don't know how to do the movement. She should have picked a different workout from Tia to experience a fraction of what Tia goes through.

Instead of performing a movement a crap load of times wrong, you should spend that time practicing to do it right. You did the complex wrong and you did do the movements in the complex with bad technique (it does take some time to learn to do cleans and jerks right). You would get a different stimulus doing this training the correct way. Your squats actually looked pretty good!
@LucyDavisFit Жыл бұрын
Hey Sean, your comment is just bang on rude 😃 I don’t expect to be amazing at any of these exercises considering I’m not a cross fitter. I tried a lot of them for the first time. I’m aware I did it wrong. Maybe learn how to give critical feedback and pointers that will actually help people 😂
@seanm3933 Жыл бұрын
@@LucyDavisFit I wasn't trying to be rude. I actually don't feel like I was. If you do want to learn how to clean and jerk I would be happy to point out some great videos, but the best way to learn "oly lifting" is have someone coach you while you are lifting. I'm sure you know someone who could do that. Like I said above, your squat actually looks pretty good and you are obviously fit and healthy.
