I think Taha and Colt knocked the kitchen scene out of the park. I will say that I would have loved to see Taha show Stephan that scene to get his professional opinion on it. Along with a few bits and pieces of how Stephan would have used some of his tools to further bring life to that scene.

@@karlcarlsburg9641 I mean, his child with Olivia Munn was born in Nov 2021, and his separation from Anna Marie Tendler was announced in May 2021, which is definitely less than nine months before November. Granted, Mulaney and Tendler might have had some understanding between themselves before any separation was publicly announced. On the other hand, their divorce wasn't even finalized until 2022, so from that perspective him breaking his marriage vows seems undeniable rather than just alleged.
@karlcarlsburg9641
@karlcarlsburg9641 5 күн бұрын
@theadamabrams sure that can all be true, but it seems like they had been separated for about a year before he even went to rehab. So if that's the case, calling it cheating isn't really accurate. Either way, nobody really knows and even though he's a celebrity, there is still a real human family involved. So, in my opinion, I wouldn't joke about it on such a public / permanent platform. I just find it distasteful.

I remember as a kid watching the bonus features for Brother Bear. One of the segments was a bts for how they did the Foley for the movie and that single moment kicked off a love of Foley art and filmmaking as a whole. One of the downsides I find with streaming is they no longer package bonus features like that with the media. If you’re curious, you gotta find that stuff independently, which I think is a real shame. No way I would have heard (heh) of something as cool as Foley if it wasn’t so readily accessible on the DVD for the movie I already loved.

I often call out the awesome Foley artist in a scene. Because it's amazing. Also, I was friends with Joanne Foley - her grandfather was THE Foley the art is named after. She still has the ring of keys he used in the (possible) first Foley effect. Don't remember what exactly, but I believe it was of a Roman "legion" marching. It wasn't loud enough and didn't sound like the huge army the director was trying to represent. Mr. Foley played around with it and found a solution - his keys knocking against his leather belt. Or so the story Joanne told goes. She even got fanmail once in the early 90s from a company that specialized in doing Foley effects! It's convenient how much I love it. I even got over my fear of horror movies because I know most of the breaking bones scenes are breaking and twisting celery. Or at least they used to be. The Mortal Combat movie was FULL of them. Okay, goodnight! Fascinating channel but it's late. I'll pick up watching the 2nd half of your video tomorrow, honest!

Man, this video really tickled me! I did the "foleying" (nothing even remotely as professional as a real foley artist) in a 4 minute short film for uni, and also a 3 minute audio drama for school, and it was soooo much fun. Recorded some stuff, downloaded other stuff like hydraulic sounds from a CC licensed site, realised completely by chance that my mic stand sounded exactly like squeaky shoes when you slowly turn its joint (after trying like a dozen of different things to create a squeaky shoe sound). Then edit the sounds, cut, copy, paste, play with volume, echo, reverb and whatnot, and finally the satisfaction when it's all put together in the final product. Ah, good times!

I feel for Taha. He's passionate about something and when he shares it with his friends they make jokes about it as if that thing he's passionate about doesn't deserve respect or appreciation and then say "it's easy" when they know next to nothing about it. Taha makes a great first try at foley with his friend and when he shows it to his friends thinking it'll make his point, his friends continue to make jokes about his passion and then how he's getting upset about it instead of stopping because they're crossing a line or a boundary. I'm glad Sabrina and Melissa eventually learn how hard foley is and appreciate it, but watching them joke about their friends passion and insulting the art itself made me feel stressed.

The answer to "why foley?" Is simply that the microphone is terrible at picking up different sounds from different locations. Some sounds will be distant and echoey while some are very dry and blunt. Foley puts everything on the same plane, which is what our ears expect when watching a film.
