I Transformed my Nano Reef Tank!

I've made some big changes in the 6 gallon nano reef tank. From adding clownfish and other saltwater fish, to mangrove propagules and macro algae. it's crazy how fast life grows even in such a little tank, managing a healthy ecosystem in a small space can be hard work, thankfully it's only temporary. can't wait to see the 100 gallon established!

How do you get your flow to be so calm? Does that random flow gen really help improve it? My nano tanks pump I can barely open it without the third chamber being drained and my main display over filling.

In your light three chanels are there right and you are using only white ? because i was checking macro alge only do great in white light

Macro Algae generally does better under whites. Standard aquarium lights for planted tanks work best. But you can crank the whites and reds on a reef light to get things to grow nicely.

Where I live we eat grape seaweed, nice slimy and salty, watery pops of sea flavour, we eat it raw with tomatoes as a salad to accompany grilled fish.

Snails are Collumbellid Snails, I have some, they reproduce quickly but are harmless

Wonderful little set up! I cant wait to see the 100 gallon build officially begin! In the meantime this nano will definitely do the trick! I have only nano/pico reef tanks at the moment and i love how awesome the large shallow tank looks. What are the dimensions of the bug shallow?

The new setup also has a plant feature, with lots of air plants, bromeliads, orchids, etc. This is above the tank. In the tank itself, lots of coral, macro algae, gorgonians, sponges (later on), anemones and nano critters and fish. Also mangroves!

Probably some berghia nudibranchs, once these fish are out of the aquarium they should be safe in there haha.

For aiptasia i tried shrimp file fish orher products but the only thing that worked for me was f aiptasia i dont know if they sell that in your country

The roots grew into the bag of carbon, so they’re kind of stuck now haha. But I pretty much just tossed them in when I got them, I didn’t use anything to fix them in there.

So, you’d rather see me put these 15yr old clownfish in a stressful fish store tank setup that’s about the same size with no decorations? That is IF the fish store even wants them in the first place. Because other hobbyists were not interested in these fish. Them spending two weeks in this setup getting fed and looking to be doing great, while we get their new massive tank ready.. is terrible?

I expect a pet owner to consider in advance how a temporary solution will be implemented in an animal-friendly manner when changes occur. Just as you invest energy into the new aquarium, the rock setup, the equipment, and more, I expect double the effort in this aspect as well. I agree that a store may not be suitable, but this approach definitely isn’t acceptable either. You are responsible for this life from the moment you start the hobby. It is solely the size, not the loving design, that I criticize.

Again, what do you suggest? Hobbyists didn’t want them, store doesn’t want old fish either.. and I only have a 6 gallon set up. What other options are there? You have a habit of criticizing all the time, which is great, but never make actual helpful suggestions lol.
