Play it safe from a distance and try to sneak in super attacks when he's distracted There's really not a specific strat but big bang attack spam works the best

I got the great ape down to like 25% on my own only by spamming super attacks and using yajirobes katana. Great ape should never be fought against alone, but if they're distracted by something else then sneak attack from behind.
