My father was a young man during the great depression where they ate possum regularly. He said they would catch and cage them where they would feed them stale bread and milk for about a week before cooking. It helps clean out the critter and remove unpleasant aftertaste.

Great video. My grandfather grew up during the depression and he told me stories about eating opossum. They hunted them with dogs. They called them Hoover Hogs because Herbert Hoover was president when the stock market collapsed in 1929. They were poor to say the least. I never heard of him eating opossum after he was grown.
