Hi. I saw this in Decathlon, and couldn’t believe it could work. Thank you very much for proving that and testing it out. I had a great laugh. As a windsurfing center owner I can’t stress enough how important it is for the beginners to have a good first contact with the sport. Thanks for testing this rigg. I also saw the offer of it at some commercial links during surfing in the Internet. But couldnt imagine that i works for a windsurfer very well. And as we see, it didnt work 😂😂😂. Decathlon additionally offers a hydro foil where Front wing and back wing are connected as a framed wing. Also interesting to see how this works, if you need another test object, please test this. Could be funny to see how it works. Great content 👍frohe ostern🐣

Last year our daughter was not heavy enough to go upwind. This year it might Work If she steps little Bit more to the rear. Jochen

Hi Nico, Thanks for this video and for frank feedback! I think the equipment definitely is a joke for pro windsurfers but actually it's not for them 🙂 I think it is more for kids, for light wind and basically for fun ( especially for those who are watching from the beach 😂). I'm beginner to intermediate and take rent equipment during my summer holidays on the sea coast line. This spring I consider to buy inflatable WindSUP board. Probably you've seen them around. They could be used with standard sail. Of cause they cannot perform as hard boards do but seem to be a good choice for me in terms of storage and logistic. Have you ever tried such iWindSUP board for sailing? It would be really nice to read some feedback from you! 🙂 Enjoy your ride!

I started with this, Nico is using it with the sail connection upside down and not enough air pressure. You can not get planning with it, but for cruising around on light winds it's perfect.

Wasn’t planing on planning with it 😄. But even with the sail attached correctly (in the beginning it was fine they way I attached it), it will pivot too easily with the fin in the front. If there’s a variation in pumps, they should probably deliver one along with it. 😄 Generally nothing against inflatable WindSUPs and inflatable tools. They all have their own purpose (such as space saving). But this one really can scare someone off the sport.

But there are also more serious solution’s concerning inflatable rigs and boards and especially for children as the rig can be handled easier. And for parents it helps to save space in the car on the transport to the surfspot. Would be great if you could test some combinations, maybe with support of some beginners.

Decathlon sells the Freeride 500, a 399€ inflatable Windsup. Guess you can always buy a cheap rig for 100€ used.

I got this kit to teach my kid a year ago, also a friend wanting to learn windsurfing tried it twice. In both case it didn't work well. Yes they can get the rig up, but then it's so hard to set a direction. The board by itself rotates too easily, even when just using it as an SUP, it want to go left and right way too much... Though, I think you might have set the bottom connection wrong, I don't have this problem. In all cases, they should definitely stop selling this. It doesn't perform at all what it advertises, I had only positive opinions on all decathlon products, until this one... It doesn't even make a good backup SUP, don't buy it!

Hi Nico, I have used this to learn. Your connection from sail to board was upside down, and it didnt have enough pressure. Maybe your pump was inaccurate. I used for one summer and then I bought a proper board. I still would use it for very light wind days just for cruising around because is so light.

@@pawel7318 i know, but you are totally underestimating this device for what it is. This is the "gateway drug" into windsurfing. I always wanted to windsurf, but didn't have the space to store all the equipment, and I didn't have a roof rack in my car. This you can store anywhere and it will fit into the smallest car. Once I started with this I was hook, I even used it successfully with an harness. No planning though with that front fin. Anyway after this I bough a roof rack for the car and I searched for the space to put a regular windsurf equipment. I have 2 regular boards now and 2 sails. This would have never been possible without this little guy. Plus no everybody has 4000€ laying around to buy a regular set. I got this on offer from decathlon for 300€, board and 2 sails, new. Watch the decathlon videos to see what really can do. It's a fantastic and innovative idea from decathlon to introduce the sport to a much wider group of people, specially young ones.

last year I tried to teach somebody and tried an inflatable board with sail, it was very bad experience and told the guy sell it immediatley and in a windsurfing center take a lessons from professionals, but never use same things again, if you want really enjoy this sport

Isn't this the problem when these kind of stores sell this sort of kit, people possibly think they are buying something that can be fun, but it's dangerous, in the UK, after COVID lockdowns every store was selling sup etc, with no knowledge of what they're selling, and unfortunately some people died using bad equipment in bad situations. Like u say buy from reputable dealers, who have the knowledge of the equipment they are selling.

Ciao, in tutta onestà, pur confermando che Dechatlon dovrebbe levare questo set dal proprio catalogo, tu non lo stai usando bene. Hai approcciato alla vela come se fosse una vela da WS, invece è tutto un altro approccio. La pinna frontale va levata se vuoi direzionare bene la tavola, regge bene fino a 10/15 kt di vento, dopo la vela si piega. La posizione ideale è dietro la vela con le gambe parallele al senso di marcia, la vela esposta al vento il tanto giusto ed il peso sulle gambe per direzionare la tavola.

Laughing my ass off seeing the reactions of everyone around 🤣😂 The only question I had... WHY ?? It seems to be capable of degrading a pro to an absolute beginner 😂 This thing is worse than my Dufour 4m+ board I had as a first board in 1982. The designer didn't try his own 'creation' I guess 🤣
